Nerf once made a slingshot. It was horrible. Still, I figured slingshots had some kind of chance in nerf. High ROF, decent power, simple, etc. So, I busted out a little slingshot. Here she is:

It shoots pretty well, but I still need to perfect the ammo for it. Right now, my stefans just aren't aerodynamic enough/heavy enough, and they end up fluttering to a stop. Still, it's accurate and easy to aim, has a high ROF, comfortable, sleek, and fairly powerful.

I can get more power out of it than I currently am getting with stefans. Test shots with paintballs prove that.

Very, very slick! Although, I think the best term for that would be "wrist rocket", as "slingshot" is a serious injustice. This is coming from someone who once owned the Nerf slingshot.

Anyway, that embarassing admission aside, what are you doing to try and keep the stefans linear? Or are you pulling them back in the pouch and letting fly? For your slingshot, a firing system that borrows from a cossbow might be appropriate....something to apply all that force down a linear path.

They go pretty straight. Even if I put in the darts sideways, the front weight straightens them out. I just put one in the pouch, pull back, and let it fly.

I really do want to make a trigger system, and I probably will sometime, but the issue is that the pouch goes all the way back behind the wrist brace, which is a good 10 inches behind the grip. As it is, pulling back and firing is no big deal.

Someday, I will build a triggered version. Kind of like a bandit crossbow with elastic instead of the bow.

It'd be neat to have a barel made of two PVC halfs, one on bottom, one on top. The top one could be held up in front of where the elastic attaches and in the very back.

Yeah, I did that once. The propulsion was atrocious, though, so I moved on. One of these days Ill make a triggered slingshot, but there's no guarantees.
