Well, plasti-dip basically puts on a rubber tip. The more dip, the more rubber and weight. As for the rubber, mine seem to be very impact absorband. I can squeeze the darts tip easily. Hot glue tips are very hard and solid. When they hit a wood wall it sounds like you threw a marble at it (at least with mine). They also tend to hurt more when you get shot with one. Although, the plasti-dip darts do not hurt at all. I'm not sure if it depends on which type of dip you buy. I have used the Plasti-Dip, and many other different types, and have not seen any huge changes, as they are all rubber coatings. The three types I have used all worked as good as the other, but that may not be the same for the many other types out there. When you first get the dip, just test it on one dart to see if you like it, and if you do continue on with the rest.
