[Spider-Waffle]

Has anyone ever tried making nerf ammo than some stefan variation? Seems like all the mods and homemades I see are designed to shoot .5-1.5" diameter foam cylindars.

Just an idea I've been running through for my homemade is a plastidip-covered wax round.

Take some melted candlewax and dip a string in the same way a candle is made (look it up on the net, really simple process) and when you have the right shape and diameter you can then dip it into plastidip. This would make a round that is heavy depending on what filler you use, like you may decide to use foam like the matchstick stefan.

But I'm curious why you would want to shoot anything other than foam. It's not practical..My bullet idea is for a completely unrelated project which I may use sometimes with my nerf rifle. Nerf is for foam, arrows, missiles darts and what not.

This will not work. The plasti-dip will catch on the barrel material and create a lot of resistance. You will be lucky if the dart even leaves the barrel. When making my plasti-dip stefans if any plastidip got on the side of the fbr, it would be ruined. I took a dart like that and fired it and the dart went screeching out of the barrel and spiraled out of control.

The arrows and missiles would be more what I'm referring too, or some dramatic small foam cylindar mod such as what boltsniper posted, or something exclusive to these yet safe to hit humans with.

I see some people made their own ultimator rounds. Anyone ever thought about making a gun to fire such rounds? Maybe gas combustion

If you wanted to make these rounds fire further or more acurately and/or to compinsate with increased power what options would you have?

Has anyone ever tried a round that consists of a bunch of air soft pellets with a small piece of FBR (maybe there's something better) behind them to push them out? This would be to give you a wide spread shot.

So like a shotgun shell effect? I don’t know if anyone has tried it. At least I haven’t heard of anyone trying it.

Yes, I have tried that. It had poor range in my modded AT3k. On a good day, though, that thing could really only hit 50-60 feet anyway though. The .12g BBs only went about 20 feet. At that range, you couldn't even feel them to know if you were hit. This ins't Nerf though by definition. Just run big, sliced FBR in a big barrel.

Yes, I have.
I use two short peices of stock foam filled with hot glue and about 10 or so 12 Gram Plastic BBs.
What I do is ramrod one foam peice down the bottom of the barrel, I then pour the amount of BBs I want in through the barrel, and finally, I ramrod the other peice of foam over the BBs.

I use these in my Titan (with stock internals) modded with a 15 1/2" long 1/2" wide CPVC barrel and I get about 70-80 feet flat with good spread. I shot my brother at about 18 feet away loaded with 12 BBs and about 8 out of the 12 hit him. They also leave small welts for a few days if they don't hit clothing.

And I am working on cutting down about half of the barrel and placing a 1/2" wide CPVC Coupler over it and have preloaded barrels of the length I cut off. This would vastly improve reload time.

Edit: And, umm, I just discovered they dent dry wall... It's cool, you can see 6 BB imprints relatively close together, though this is kind of bad.

If you wrap the air rescrictors in tape, they make ok bullets.

Al, I told you to do that a week ago. way to steal my ideas.

but anyway, that kind of ammoworks best when you stuff material of some kind in between the prongs, for added weight and stability.
Also, after seeing the 1105 article, dipping or filling the front with some plasti-dip for aerodynamics and added weioght to the front. or you could not fill the fronts, and use that space to make them attatch, for more shots. keep in mind that any shot-style ammo will only get about 30 feet, and no more, if you use more than 4 pellets or bb's.

Having a metal tip or hot glue tip seems to be partially defeating the purpose of using foam in the first place. I was thinking recess the weight behind the foam a bit and mabye make the foam cone shaped, not only for aero dynamics but to get a spring effect out of the foam where force in proportional to displacement to icrease impact time.

I'm not a projectile expert but as I understand you want the weight as far forward as possible. With the small bit of foam in front of the weight you might want to increase the stefan length/size so the weight is still in the front 20%(or something) of the projectile.

That was when you werent on this forum. I i also made some stefans with no hotglue, just used some tape, still worked pretty well.
