Yesterday I tried putting a bunch of rubber bands on the cock of a dart tag gun, then putting the other end on the thing that looks like a vent on the back so it would always be cocked so I could have something close to the magstrike, and it worked!-Kinda... The darts would only go out about four inches away from the gun and fall. Does anyone know how to mod a dart tag gun into a magstrike?

Well, since the magstrike has yet to be released and hasbro doesn't even have any concept pictures out yet, I'm afriad to say that I cannot help you in any way.

Soooo added that hilarious quote to my signature, while playing with my butthole.

But even if it would get more than 4 inches it would only be semi-auto. To have an automatic gun requires a pump and a bladder of air along with a regulator of some kind; it's impossible with a springer like the DTB. If you really want a 10-shot auto, just buy a Powerclip or wait for the Magstrike.

The only problem I see with your idea is the fact that if those rubber bands keep the gun cocked, how does the plunger slide forward to fire the dart? That is probably the problem. The only way you could actually get it to work would be to make extensive modifications so that when the trigger goes back forward, somehow it pushes the plunger backwards into the locked position, and that may not even be possible.

yeah, how could this ever work?

There's no free lunch, you know.

does it use part of the plunger stroke for each dart?

Can you post a vid?

So what you're trying to do is make it so that when the gun is fired, the rubber bands pull the slide thus cocking it. What you're getting into is perpetual motion, friend. And thus far... man has yet to make a perpetual motion device that works.

I think that runs on solar energy.

The birds stop eventually and the metal things use batteries to power a magnet in the base.

and they do stop spinning eventually.

The only way to make a DTB automatic is to combine it with a large air tank and valve. Or you could just buy a wildfire.

This thread cracked me up so much that I had to bump it in the form of explanations for two lovely physics demonstrations.

The solar radiometer demonstrates the energy contained in light (the power source, solar or otherwise) when the black sides of the vanes absorb more energy than the white sides and cause the motion.

The dipping/drinking bird is a thermal engine powered by evaporative cooling. It stops moving when the hat/hair dries out completely.

Regarding the full auto conversion for the DTB/DTG (what's the official abbreviation anyway?) what if you put on some rubber bands connected to the FRONT of the gun to pull the plunger forward (and launch the dart) before the other rubber bands pull it back and cock it again?

Why don't you stop helping quite so much. I think you're rolling pretty close to top single-day poster of all time and that's not somewhere you want to go.
