In some ways, yes, but you'd be disappointed in the results.

I've heard of people simply taking a needlenosed pliers to the plastic shaft in the barrel, but that doesn't attend to the air restriction pieces that Hasbro designed to keep these blasters safe for kiddies. You'd be able to use homemade ammo in a NF once the restrictors are out, but you wouldn't get nearly as great performance as you would if you removed the restrictions and replaced the barrel.

All of which require you to take it apart.

It's really not much rocket science with a NiteFinder, unlike the Maverick, which deals with rotation pieces, air restrictions, and an air gap in the cylinder that keeps it from being a consistent performer after modding.

If you're afraid to open up a blaster, I'd HIGHLY recommend saving up a few more bucks to get a Nerf Dart Tag Crossfire pistol (about $11 where I am, your prices may be lower). That sucker is a pretty good performer out-of-the-box, has cool slide-action cocking, and even comes with six darts and a velcro target to shoot at. It's right over here.

Start with that. Look, you can even mod that one when you're brave enough to grab a screwdriver and get in there.

Good luck in whatever you choose to do.

I'm pretty sure said velcro target is actually supposed to be a shield. Heh.

Honestly I'd say don't be intimidated of opening up a NF. Of all the guns you could get right now, It is by far the easiest to open, and the simplest internals. The only way you could screw it up is if you opened it up and either lost a part or took a sledge hammer to it. If you're going to go with a NF, you really need to open it to get the peg out at least. If you're too nervous to do a full air restrictor removal then you don't have to, but it's very easy to take the peg out, because it's on a separate piece that you can just take out without having to cut anything.

If you really don't want to open your gun, then I have to agree with Pineapple and tell you to go buy a Crossfire.

Most of the internals on a NF (at least the old one) are screwed down. You'll be fine taking it apart.
