I never played, but that's because I could never afford a big enough army. I loved painting though. I also liked reading about the armies, since I always hoped to be able to actually play. I had Ultramarines (I know, very noob of me). I find it funny that you played both space marines and Tyranid. The two opposite ends of the spectrum as far as organization and point distrobution. With Tyranids you can get hundreds of low point pieces and swarm your enemy, which happened to me the few times I played with friends.

Still have my Marneus piece. Worthless in game, but the theory for his weapons is so very awesome.

I play.

For Warhammer 40K, I play Witch Hunters and Daemonhunters. I have about 2000 points of Daemonhunters-- pure Grey Knights-- and around 1000 points of Witch Hunters.

For Warhammer Fantasy, I just started up an Ogre Kingdoms army. I've got around 2000 points worth of the big lummoxes.

I used to play Blood Angel Space Marines, but I slowly lost interest after a while. Due to the fact that it was taking me forever to assemble a good army.

I usually wait untill Xmas or b-day to get stuff. I have little money to put into it, but I get to play fairly regularly. I have yet to paint my entire army though.

For an example, my birthday is right after christmas, i got 6 gargoyles, a ravener, and 3 warriors. I still havent built them all, and it keeps me occupied. I kind of paint as I go.

Same here, as far as the b-day...
I have a small Space Marine army, of 2000 points and 22 models...
(I love the amazingly high points of SMs!!!)
I've got half of them painted in a custom scheme...
Chaos black on red gore, with boltgun metal and burnished gold accents.

I mananged to aquire a dreadnought, 5 terminators, and an assault marines squad in three days, as my birthday is right after xmas.

Also, if anyone here lives around DC, i need fellow nerfers and warhammer players... badly.

I've got 15 or so Dark Eldars, unpainted and not even snapped out of the grid (save 4 which are unpainted but assembled) that a friend gave to me for a present a long time ago. I don't play at all and he was trying to addict me or something.

So I'm willing to almost give those to someone who would actually put them to use.

I have like 3 little Tau(I think) guys. I wanted to make a Tau(is that correct?) army, but my local hobby shop only has chaos marines and the witch hunters.

I play on occasion with my friends, I'd say about once every month or so. I play a Deathwing Terminator army, mostly unpainted, simply due to lack of free time...

Tau players rejoice, new Codex coming out soon.

Nice. Deathwing Termie's and pure Grey Knights are kindred spirits. Both our armies are usually outnumbered 4-to-1 by our opponents.

I play Marines with allied Grey Knights. 1300 points or so and counting. Marines are a custom chapter, and when I can afford more termies, devestators and some dreads I'll be using Heed the Wisdom of the Ancients and either Honour your Wargear or Scions of Mars.

yes my chapter is also custom... heed the wisdom of the ancients and suffer not the alien to live (orks).
So far it is terminator heavy, with close combat as its strongest suit (6 assault marines, 1 dreadnought, and 13 models with terminator armor, including 5 assault terminators).

I used to have an ultra marine paint job, but I'm painting over them with a Pink Floyd style. For fun at first, but then it looked cool. Its got a white undercoat with black secondary and boltgun accents. There is a little gold in there too. I've painted the hammers from The Wall on the shoulder pads and on the leg of my dreadnaught. My Tyranid army is just starting and I'm using a brown primary with white armor(I have a shat load of white) and black accents.

P.S. Have any of you guys gotten as many sets with missing pieces as I have? My ravener just came without a head, but i cut up a Warrior's head an slapped it on there instead.

My Space Marines are made up of mostly infintry. I love the foot soldiers, and the tanks are bitches to build!

My favorite strategy for building an army is get a bunch of infintry men and have them be lead by one really strong guy.

Make those infantry men Terminators, and add as their leader a Chaplain in Terminator Armor...

What I am going to do when I get around to it is to use this smooth on stuff that I have to copy the sets and make many of them. Its alot cheaper probably.

This is what I am talking about
http://www.smooth-on.com/liqplas.htm
it is a liquid plastic that you can put into a mold made off of the models. The same company makes the mold stuff too. I haven't tried it but it is most likely good.

Just a warning DT - the home-molds end up just as expensive, what with bad molds, silicone for the construction of the molds, and a hell of a lot of time...

Yes Yazz, I have troops...
My current force: 1 Land Speeder, 1 Venerable Dreadnought, 1 Rhino, 6 Assault Marines, 10 Marines, 1 Terminator Captain, 1 Chapter Master, 1 Terminator Chaplain, 5 Terminators, 5 Assault Terminators, and 4 Scouts (losers).

My only problems here are: 1) I need one more scout to use them, 2) I can't use all of my HQ units at the same time, and 3) My Chaplain is better than my Chapter Master... ^_^

But I have as many terminators as troops, so... hey!!! What's wrong with Terminators anyways?!?!?!
I love little loopholes... 5 of my terminators are a command squad... so I have a banner bearer and an apothecary... :D

The warhammer dawn of war computer game is pretty sweet as well. Even me playing it on my computer with a bad graphics card was amazed to see the quality of the gameplay. Plus it reminds me of why computer and table top war games own all. I also know that but I am just using the parts I need and not all the extra bitz that come with the set. So I am basicly just making copies of the legs, bodies, heads, backpacks, and weapons. Unless they have something super cool with them.
