I just finished my assault marine squad paintings today. A job well done.
My current army: 3 tactical squads, 1 devestator squad, 1 terminator squad, 1 dreadnaught, 1 Razorback, 1 Vindicator, 1 Scout squad (mostly misfits: 4 shotguns and 2 s n i p e r s), 1 terminator captain, 1 librarian, 1 assault squad, and 4 separate grey knights(why the hell not)

and maverick, if its not too late, terminators are always fun(my friend spent an entire turn just to take out my T squad) and yes, assault marines are a blast.

btw, how do you have 6 AM, don't they come in packs of 5?

Nice. Deathwing Termie's and pure Grey Knights are kindred spirits. Both our armies are usually outnumbered 4-to-1 by our opponents.

Yeah, I love being outnumbered - presents a new challenge each time. I also like it that the basic troop choice can rip through most any opponent in close combat.

The only problems I have are when I fight Tyranids - No matter how many I kill, there's always more, and the stupid Genestealers rip apart my troops. I still can't beat my friend's Tyranid army.

I have a small Black Templars Army. I want to get more, now that the new Codex and models are out.

I know that feeling. Even before their new Codex came out last year, I used to get beat to hell by 'Nids. I've still yet to figure out a way to turn the tide against them when using a pure Grey Knights force.

You need a crap ton of fire to pummel them before they reach your lines. Thats the only way to do it. Thats why the IG are good is because they are super cheap to get and they can pump alot of fire into the ememy before they reach your lines, but if they do reach your lines your pretty much fucked.

With terminators, just put all of your fire onto the genestealers... Ignore anything else that isn't a Monstrous Creature, until the 'stealers are (temporarily) out of the way.
Then, assault everything else... Terminators can take almost any beating "dish-outable."

Paladin - GET MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Black Templars are the COOLEST chapter (save for my own, of course... :P )

I like to actually stay behind cover and just keep putting fire on them w/ my losers and my devistarors and anything in range. I like to wait for the to get closer and the jump itno the and assault. When I use my Tyranid(Rarely) its just basically flooding their guys as quickly as possible. Thats whats good and bad about them. If you don't make it in time and break cover too soon, you get torn to pieces. But if you make it, they're screwed.

Heh, my friend and I pitted my Tyranid against his Tau to see what would happen, and we decidied to end in a draw, where he had 2 fire warriors left in close combat with my Warrior(my last unit) with one wound left. We like to play to the death and not until a portion of your army is gone.

I played warhammer for about a year and Ill tell you two things. It is a money pit and keeps you from developing proper social skills. I was playing one day at my local hobby shop surrounded by a bunch of antisocial "geeks" and I just decided to hell with this. Went out and got myself a girlfriend and a social life.

Since when are Warhammer and having-a-girlfriend-and-a-social-life mutually exclusive? My lady helps me paint my miniatures, when we've both got the time.

Seriously, the "money pit" argument, I can understand-- Games Workshop is a sink into which currency from all across the globe is poured. But "developing proper social skills?" The game, by its very nature, necessitates socialization with others.

Warhammer, being a game, actually develops social skills... unless you play by yourself.
I have a social life, play warhammer with some of my best friends (with whom i do things BESIDES play warhammer, as well) and i have a girlfriend. your point, MFRnync?
and Nerforbust, your local GW superstore should carry both, at the cheap price of your soul.

I am thinking about starting into it. I found a local hobby store that actually carries these. What kit should I get. I might ask for it for my B-day. I will have to go again sometime and right the types they have there. But until then, what are some good beginners models for me to look for?

I just new a lot of people who were playing (20-30 year old men) at the time I was 12-14, it seemed like these guys were spenind mass quantitys of time painting small metal figurines and were overly involved in warhammer fan fiction and the like. It was around this same time that I discovered modifying nerf guns and paintball so I chose tos epnd my time doing things that I felt were a bit more conduscive to maionstream socialization. No offense intended in my previous post, just stateing an opinion.

Speaking of Warhammer 40k, I have like a 2000 point Eldar Ulthwe army that's mosltly painted (really well might I add) That I don't really use anymore. It's somewhat old so it has a bunch of out of production pieces in it too. If any of you guys are interested in purchasing it I'd probably part with the whole thing for a good enough offer, or sell it off in parts. I'll get some pictures and such for anyone who's interested. Reply or PM me.

Lastmanalive... Space Marines are the easiest to start with, but if I were you I'd go for Veggieboy's offer. Eldar are not played enough, tyranids and sm's get all of the attention...

I agree. Something like Necron or Sisters of battle. Go for something crazy. Or you could start with the basics(SM or IG) and then move on to something more complicated. Or you could just get one army and make it big and powerful. I personally have a short attention span so I move on quickly(same with paint jobs). In fact, I tried out Steel Legion for a while, but I didn't like the feel of Imperial Guard. Mostly because I don't really like tanks, and the only reason to have IG is their tanks.

LMA, in my opinion, always start with a box set of basic troops. Then look for the codex, if you like your army choice, and decide what army type your in to. VeggieBoy has a good offer, but the army won't be persionalized. Thats what I like most about it. The ability to have an army completly different that everyone else. But if thats something you don't care about and you wat to actually start, look into his offer.
