I am working on a Overhaul of my new night finder, and was wondering if it was possible to silencer a spring gun. I know the basic way to make a silencer for an air gun ie my AT 2k and was wondering if it would work the same way for a spring gun?

I made a suppressor for my lock n load, and it's pretty damn successful. I used 4" of 1/2" sch40 pvc, drilled holes in it, wrapped it a bunch of times in toilet paper, then electrical tape, then wrapped it once in Dynamat. I also wrapped the plunger tube in a bit of dynamat.
It's significantly quieter.

The way a pump gun silencer works is it disperses the air coming out of the barrel, reducing the "pop" sound. Obviously, the sound from a springer originates in a different place, so the silencing method must also differ. The only way I know of to silence a spring gun is to stuff it with foam or some other substance. It will still make a substantial amount of noise, but it won't let the spring "ring" after the shot like they tend to do. You could also place a cushion (foam craft sheet) on the end of the plunger head to help muffle the impact. Again, because the way a spring gun works, you're always going to have noise. Is it really that bad of a thing? You could just not silence it. It doesn't give you that great of a tactical advantage at all, really.

Three year old topic.
Silencers are only cosmetic in Nerf, the sound factor is of little consequence in most Nerf wars.
Work on it. Strike one.
