Need Expert Advice On Some Important (to Me) Mods

I've been told that with an air restrictor removal (already done) and a barrel replacement, I can get 70 ft out of this fella. However, after reading the mass of information here, I can't decide if CPVC is better or brass or that clear plastic stuff. I'm fairly certain I can get all.
I planned on using stefans, but found terrible accuracy with them using my stock barrel. Stock barrel was accurate and short ranges with stock darts, not stefans though.
Any help at all? It goes well appreciated,
Matt

I went barrel shopping today, and yesterday. I've posted this on NHQ too, but maybe someone here can help me who isn't there..If you can get 70' out of an un-banded Nitefinder, go with whatever barrel material you're using now. Depending on your dart, various materials may work better. For me, I can't really get a hold of PETG, so I make do with brass and cpvc. Cpvc works wonders for me, but for my friend who uses different FBR, brass is king.

CPVC, both sizes, doesn't fit at all. Half inch is far too small for either stefans or stocks, and three fourths far too large.
Brass started to break me down. I drove out there, brought both types of dart with me, and found that my stefans were in between two sizes. One size I couldnt' blow them out of, the other they'd fall right out of. Disheartening.
Could this then be an issue with my supposedly .5" FBR? Should I find another brand?
I dream of getting 70' out of my unbanded NF....

Well. CPVC is tight for almost all people I've heard of. For spring guns, that's what you want; a tight fit to allow pressure to build up behind the dart. You should get a nice *pop* when you fire it. And I have the same issue with brass; 17/32 is tight and while I could blow it out it's not easy, and 9/16 my darts slide around with almost too much ease. For my Nitefinders I believe I have Nested Brass. I'd actually try the cpvc first, seeing how much cheaper it is than brass. If that works well for you, stick with it. Otherwise, take the brass that's tight, and nest it inside the one that isn't tight, to get kind of a tiered barrel. It'll give you the buildup and barrel length you'll need for a NF.

By that, you mean I should get a tight fit for say, 2" of barrel, and then the loose fit for the remaining 2"?
Telescope a 2" 9/16 into a 4" 19/32"?
CPVC doesn't fit for crap. Out of the question. I couldnt' even squeeze them in.
I'll go with the 9/16" even though I couldnt' blow them out easily at all.. I hope the gun has more balls than I do..
Thanks for all who have helped,
Matt

THANK YOU. That is what I needed to hear.Wow, you have some fat-ass darts.
I went out and got some NORMAL FBR, and brass to match.

O and I just had an idea. I bet 1/2 copper would work well if your FBR is that thick. I would definitly try the copper.

One of the most obvious things to do with a spring gun is to disassemble it, remove the spring, and then elongate it, increasing its displacement from equilibrium in the cocked position. A little Hooke's Law action means that this increased the force needed to compress the spring, which adds more energy to the system (a pretty old trick - my dad used to use this on dime store dart guns he had when he was kid). The only problem is, the spring will eventually revert to its original length, and repeated stretchings will wear the spring out, making it less elastic and leaving you worse off than before.
A more effective variation is to simply add another spring to the system. Most hardware stores sell a variety of springs, so just remove the plunger assembly from your NF, take it to Lowe's or Home Depot, and buy a spring that will fit in it. Place this spring in the plunger tube with the original spring (you'll have to remove the plunger head, but it just fastens with a screw). This makes reassembly a bit tricky, since it's difficult to get the cocking handle to line up right, but it's well worth it. I made this modification before doing anything else to my gun and it boosted the range by about 20 feet, with no rubber bands, a stock barrel, stock micro darts, and with the air restrictor still in place.
Theoretically, I suppose that you could do the same thing to a Maverick, but I don't too much about those.

I think it works in pretty much all guns, including my mav. Not much of a difference though.
Barrel stuff is all sorted out.
