I was just wondering if anyone had picked up one of the new Tech Target packages yet. I saw a couple at Wal-mart and when I took a closer look they were "new" ones which boasted various improvements to the system and a new gun. I didn't get to see the gun itself because it's a closed box, but the picture on the outside looked exactly like the scout from the N-Strike Utility only with a different paint job. I'm interested to know if anyone can confirm this.

*edit* Here's a picture I snagged from the Nerf site. Looks like a scout, I'm more interested in how well does it perform?

I saw that too, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was. Not that the Scout is cheap to produce, but it's ergonomically awesome, and everyone I know who Nerfs (not the good nerfers that we'll see here mind you) love it for that. It also cuts costs to not have extra molds.

Too bad it sucks. Good call adding that sidenote. Personally, I like the feel of a NF better anyway...

We really can't tell from pictures as to whether or not it is actually a scout clone, but if anyone still has tech target sets in their stores with the older edition ones, I'd suggest you buy them all, sell the targets on ebay, and sell the TTG's on the forums and make a bundle, because it looks (from the pictures) that the new TTG's shoot micros, which would make them scout clones. Not good.

Not to mention that I personally think scouts looked better with the old color scheme, but whatever.

If its the same as the original scout than it may sell well with the younger crowd, but I have always found the trigger a little short for my liking.

Basically, what I think they did was paint the scout blue and green, to try and make it more pleasing to the eye, and add a dartboard to play "games" with. Nothing important.

Ok, lots of good feedback. I was just wondering because I know the older tech target pistol was fairly popular and now it seems they've done away with it.

Also a couple of people have said instead of buying a Utility kit they wished they could've gotten a scout separate. This would be a way to do that. I know most people don't like the scout but there are those that do.

I already have a few NFs, a crossfire (I love this thing), and a couple of modded mavericks. I figure I'll be picking up one of the tech target sets so I have something new to tinker with. In my dorm at college I don't have access to most of my tools so I have to settle for minor mods until I can get home on a break. A TTS (I changed the abreviation to represent the new model), might be a fun little gun to play with. I already have large plans for my Firefly when I get my week off at the end of the month ^_^ .

Ok, just to make it official. It is the Scout with a different paint job. They didn't even change it to have a different name on the gun.

Not the greatest pic but you can see where it has the scout badging:

My opinion is if you're going for a pistol right now you want a Crossfire or a NF. The NF is an easier mod, but I love the small size and feel of the Crossfire. The TTS is just as bad as its Utility colored cousin. Its performance might improve with some modding, but it just doesn't feel as well put together as the NF or Crossfire.
