Right, hello everypeoples, It's your everyday friendly neighborhood the Cheat here with some more things with nerf-filled nougat centers!!!

Wow... that was weird.

Anyhows, I FINALLY got to picking up those two Nightfinders I've been wanting to get, and so after getting home, opened one up and started tinkering with air restrictors, barrels, ect.

as you can see, I already dremeled out the places in the rings that block the air, allowing for direct air to be hitting the dart.

I figured that filling up the holes on the ring on the right would allow for a more focused air flow, so I decided to use play-doh to fill it, as I haven't got really too much better.

My two nite-finders. The standard blue/yellow was the one that was modded.

While it is now able to shoot stefan darts, it actually has a DECREASED range over the Stock NF!

What the heck? It shoots about 2-3 feet less. Makes a louder noise though.

Some possible ideas:
1. I wasn't supposed to dremel through one of the rings.
2. Play-doh was a bad choiced (though I don't see how it could decrease range that much...
3. I didn't secure all the barrel peices together. Needs to be hot glued/ electrical taped?

I'm not sure. Feedback would be lovely!

Did you actually test it with stefans, or were these tests done with the Dart Tag darts I'm seeing in the pics?

If theyw ere taken with the dart tag darts, then that would be why. Stock darts don't do well in guns, period, generally speaking. The stock darts in the pictures have holes down the middle. This hole allows air inside before the dart starts moving. The unmodded NF has a peg inside that fills up a lot of this space, causing the actual foam of the dart at the back end of the dart to be what the air is pushing against. With the restrictor in, the holes the air goes through are around the edges, and so the air comes out there, and hits the foam. If your gun is modded for stefans, there is nothing making the air go straight to the foam. So it fills the dart with air before it has a chance to push against anything. This causes a slight decrease in power.

Now, that's an explanation for slight differences. 2-3' isn't very large, but it's bigger than what the reason I just gave would cause. So reason #2 is that the modded Nite Finder is a 2nd edition NF. The Unmodded one is a 1st edition, and they are better. The springs are more powerful, among other things. A 2-3' difference isn't all that bad, but that could quite possibly be why it is less powerful than the 1st edition.

OK I think you did a few things wrong
-First off ya I don't think playdoh was a good idea. A good Idea would be either to epoxy it or use superglue and then use hotglue to fill space then put a little electrical tape around it
- Secondly a barrel replacement is key to the nf mod. Grab some brass or even cpvc will help.

Not necessarily. The stock barrel on Nite Finders is actually quite good for a stock barrel. A barrel replacement will make it even better, but still having the stock barrel on can't be a reason for a modded gun having worse ranges than an unmodded gun.

I also doubt that the play-doh has squished out of it's place. The piece that the barrel post and "x" were on covers up the end of the piece he put the play-doh in, so it can't come out.

I think it's really just becaue the NF Ex-3 isn't as good as the original.

Mod your other one exactly the same way and see what happens. I'm willing to put some money on it being better...

Wait, I'm confused.

The BLUE and YELLOW NF is the one that I modded.

The BLUE and SILVER is the one unmodded.

I thought that the Blue and Silver one was newer... which one is better?

Secondly, no, the Play-Doh is working pretty well. But hot-gluing it to secure it is a really good idea.

Lastly, no, I haven't gotten a chance to make my own stefans yet. I'm trying to get to the hardware store to get some of that stuff (PVC, Brass, FBR, ect.) but haven't gotten to make a trip yet.

I'll tinker some more...

The Blue and Silver one is the older version.

The Blue and Yellow one is newer, and we can tell because they made an addition. The wierd bulky thing on top is a mountin rail so that the gun can be hooked onto a titan where the Scout attaches. The Titan Didn't exist when the Nite Finder first came out. It hadn't quite been released yet.

So your unmodded one is the older version, which is better. Your modified one is the newer version, which is still quite good, but lacks a little compared to the original.

Thanks for the advice. I thought the N-Strike version was the origional.

Anyhow, I was using this one really as an experiment- My bro's birthday is coming up, and I thought I'd get him a sweet gun. The NF suited my needs.

The N-strike one was being sent for scrap for my tricked-out Maverick anyways.

Oh, also, I wasn't EXACTLY sure where all the differnent screws went... there were three sizes and it was kinda hard to tell what went where. Could that seriously effect the preformance/integrity of the gun? I don't know.

I'll keep tinkering in the meantime...

The two longest screws go through the ammo-holders on the bottom of the gun. The black smallest screws are for internal pieces. The remaining screws should be the same size.

I did alot of messing around with the NF because it was my first mod, so I played around to see what worked. For where you put play-doh in I just took that whole piece out instead of just drilling it. For mine I was getting a couple feet of improved range with just the air restrictor removed over a stock NF. It wasn't until I added the barrel mod that it really took off.
