[Uncle Hammer]

So I just recently bought a crossfire so I decided to mod it. Just a basic restrictor removal and barrel replacement. I put a 17/32 in brass barrel inside the actual barrel. I finally got it to fit nice and snug just were I wanted it after about 30 minutes of sanding. Out of the box the crossfire performs decently. It's ranges are comparable to a New NF/ TTG. After I modded it It's get some more range and some added velocity. I wouldn't have any problems taking this thing into battle. Pics of internals and my actual gun modded below. Plus a short video of the whole firing process.

Nice mod, I just got a blue CrossFire and was thinking of doing a mod, I took out the post in the barrel and it gets about 55' flat with a good stefan. I'm thinking of doing a CPVC coupler mod. Or when I get my brass.

I love the crossfire though I have yet to find one. I might mozz yon over to the coridor and picl one up at TRU. The stock darts don't get good range with your barrel it appears. Try asshole darts. I bet they work great.

Edit: Its plunger looks just like the Mav plunger regardless to size.

Second shot is stefan and ranges are about 50-60 ft. And actually the stock darts get pretty decent range. About 45 ft or so.

I saw a crossfire at TRU today...and I was a little pissed because (unless I'm completely wrong) you can't see the gun, only the box...the actual gun is hidden from view. That's not horribly bad, but I certainly didn't expect it to be that small.

Congratulations on your mod...those are some pretty good ranges. Makes me think that I should try some 17/32" brass with some nitefinders.

Based on your experience with this gun, how workable do you think a spring replacement would be? I have no clue if it would actually work, but I now have 2 'new' nitefinder springs, which at first glance look to be stronger than the spring in your pictures. But I've never replaced a spring on a top-cocking gun, so someone will have to tell me if it's even possible.

Yeah, it's possible. I replaced the spring in my Scout with a spring from a Tek6. I had to cut the spring down a little though. After some lubing, sealing and springing, I got ranges of about 50ft consistant. I say got instead of get because the plunger broke from some previous modification experiments.

Well a NF spring is too wide. The spring in that pic is alot smaller in diameter than a Nf's.

How many stock darts does the crossfire come with? Just the six to fill the gun?

Yeah the crossfire only comes with 6 dart tag darts.

On my crossfire all I did was open it up, and I noticed the barrel piece doesn't really seem to come apart (any tips on this welcome). However I didn't let that discourage me, because there's a hole in the back all I did was took a screw driver and hammered it straight through. Made a nice little hole to channel the air through and the gun shows a nice power boost, almost up to a NF. Here's a pick.

PC, how are your Stefans weighted? I'm thinking of getting one but only if it's got decent power. All I've got is CPVC to mod it with and I don't know how it would take that.

The stefan shot out of that was weighted with some smaller type of fishing weight. Maybe a 2/0 or 1/0.
