OK I just read a thread about different sized backing rod so I need your help.
What are sizes of stefans 5/8, 3/4 etc?
Which size fits best into cpvc?

3/4 FBR fits in in 1/2 inch PVC i think and 1/2 inch FBR fits in 1/2 inch CPVC (they sometimes needs to be streched out to fit better some come larger than others).

A micro stefan is 1/2" FBR, while a mega stefan is 5/8" FBR.

1/2" is a standard for most nerfers.

1/2" generally fits well in 9/16ths brass and 1/2" CPVC. 5/8" generally fits well in 1/2" copper, 1/2" PVC, and 19/32nds brass.

Again, these are approximate. You need to take FBR to the pipes, and test the fit to be sure.

I think the greater question is, who uses 3/4" of FBR? Is that for some type of super stefan?

I do. It is for some sort of super stefans. I weight them with jellybeans, but that's kinda temporary. As we speak, the paint is drying on a new modded sprinkler-valve homemade with breech loading which shoots these. I'll post pics when it's done. It also shoots some shot-shells type of stefans which I have been toying around with, which I will also post when I get them to work right.

You're testing my patience.

Bring your bloody FBR to the pipe, and test the bloody thing. No one can tell you what fits best, all FBR is different.

Agreed with BW. It's basically going to come down to trial and error over what FBR is available to you. You've gotten to the point where you've heard opinions, so you have an idea of what to look for, now fine tune it with your own research.

1/2" FBR may fit decently into CPVC. It doesn't for me, I've done the research. Why doesn't it? No one can tell you what fits best, all FBR is different.

You will also find that 1/2" FBR will fit very loosely in a PVC barrel. Some people nest crayolas or brass in them.

All you need to do now is take the initiative and check it out for yourself.
