Where: Goffle Brook Park, Hawthorne, NJ. (check back in this post for directions).

The actual name of the park is Kings Pond Park, north of the Goffle Brook Park printed on maps. [Therefore located in Ridgewood/Glen Rock instead of Hawthorne]

Even if you still show up at the wrong park, you can tell if it is right or not. Large rolling fields surrounded by major roads = no, large forest, pond, one field, and composting lot at the end of the road = yes.

Simply put, follow Lakeview Ave until it ends.

-There will be a huge sale after the war for trading, selling, and buying guns. Brings some money if you want to get yourself some new nerf weapons.

It would be much more useful if the sale occured before the war.

Hey, thanks for the pics duxburian. One question though....is it possible to have like "bunker wars" in the composting lot? It looks like you can use the hills as cover while firing at others. And I beleive this composting lot is in bounds, correct? Thanks.

Certainly, they are waiting to be used. As long as it is sunny and dry, otherwise that lot is nasty. It is, after all, a composting lot.

I also have to get down to the park to see how high the water is at the dam. If it's at normal level, I have to find a new board to lie across it for people to cross. Or if you have good reflex strength you can jump the gap like I do...

Those pictures are actually quite old [Fall 2004], but nothing much has changed. Still looks near exactly like it does in the pictures.

Dux: Sorry about Sunday. I was in New York State, going to come down to Jersey for the war, But it looked to rainy for me to drive 40 minutes and then just turn around again.

If someone goes to the Goffle Brook Park in Hawthorne/Glen Rock by error, following the brook north will take them into the correct Kings Pond Park in Glen Rock/Ridgewood. It is a really obvious change, since the official Goffle Park is open fields vs our park is heavily wooded.

Im a friend of Theyellowdartmti and Akeris, and i just started nerfing. But, i dont know if i am good yet. Ill be at the war, but sorry for last week, it was raining and folks wouldnt let me out of house

You've gotta read this entire thread dart if you are interested in everything. We have already discussed the date, so please read back. Anway, yes, we should definitely get someone to take pics or even video tap this war. Maybe we could get it posted in the Gallery section of its good enough...we'll see.

My friends and I are involved with video/TV production at/outside of school. We have like 5 cameras, so that's no problem.

Speaking of the date, I have a track meet on the 1st. Good thing it is at home, and somewhat early. So I don't think we can start as early as hoped. Perhaps noon? or 1? Saying that I have a huge Nerf war to go to isn't going to fly with my coach.

How about we keep the times, and so the rest of us can start at the normal time and nerf for awhile...there will be plenty of people to still have a war. Then when you are finished, you can join in. I don't think rescheduleing the war is necassary since you can still make it. Let me know your thoughts on this.

I'm kinda important to my team...but good thing we have more than one commander. As long as we can still muster a good amount of people, the war could go off at the agreed time. A few other members are also affected by the track meet, so they will arrive with me then.

Ok, after pestering my clan somewhat, this is an updated list of who on my team can go...

Me, Dart, Terron, Sam, Bulb. That's definate (Until the call me the day before; "Uhm yeah, about that war tomorrow...")

Maybes: My friend Paul, Ilzszil, Jake.

Oh, one suggestion, we should come up with a rain date. After that one war died because of the weather, I now have a fear of rain + war.

I will be putting up a calendar in just a few minutes. Let me know if any info needs to be changed. This is the start of a more sophisticated system I am in the process of working on.

Park location = Ridgewood/Glen Rock instead of Hawthorne. Since there is a large park in Hawthorne just downstream, that would create a lot of confusion. They will be looking for Lakeview Dr and not finding it since it isn't down there.

NB: Lakeview Dr is off of Lake Ave, don't confuse them! I will be making directions from the major highways tomorrow.

11:00 to ~5:00, but I won't be able to make it until around noon or 1, depending on when our relay is up and how fast I can get from the track to the battlefield.

Wow, only one week until the war!! Heres an update/bump of the information of the war:


When: Saturaday, April 1st (possibly April 2nd, depends on how many people want
to show up for second day). Rain date must still be discussed. Possibly following Saturday. Please post opinions on this.

Time: 11:00AM-5:00PM. Try to get there at 10:30AM to have time to set up and
organize teams. Duxburian and most of his team are arriving at 1:00PM. The rest of the team should be on time.

Where: Kings Pond Park, Ridgewood/Glen Rock, NJ. (check back in this post for directions).

Food- Be sure to bring money for your own lunch. As duxburian said, there is a
Burger King right down the street in case you want to eat there. Also,
bring lots of water to keep hydrated for the day.

Clothing/Protection- Bring eye protection....we don't want anyone to get hurt. Also,
camo is optional. Since this war is mostly going to be in the
woods, I am going to wear some camo.

-There will be a huge sale *before* the war for trading, selling, and buying guns. Brings some money if you want to get yourself some new nerf weapons.

-High powered modded guns and homemades will be tested the day of the war and will either be approved or not for use in the war.

-We will be playing many game varients, and rules will be stated for each gametype on the day of the war. CTF may also be played. Please reply in this topic if anyone has some flags or old, different colored rags we could use.

-Make sure you bring plenty of ammo, whether it is homemade stefans or stock darts, make sure you have plenty of it that will last you the day.
