You do know you are acting like an idiot right? Quit digging up and posting in old topics, typing in caps and talking like you actually know something when you obviously don't know jack. Why don't you carefully read every backlogged thread in the General, Mods, and Nerf War sections. You already know how to dig up old threads, so why don't you read all the way through each and every last one of them and educate yourself.

When you are done, you'll understand why you are acting like a dumbass, and actually learn many answers to the questions you have. You'll be better off for it. And since it should take you a good long while to do this, we won't have to deal with you.

Also, I just don't like your Megaman signatures, mostly because I think they suck. Don't get me wrong I like megaman (and X), I just think you don't do the persona justice. Pick one, set it as you sig in your profile and leave it. Since I assume you really like megaman check out this web comic: bobandgeorge.com I also think you should read the entire back log of that comic before you ever make another post on this site. Not because it has anything to do with Nerf, but because it will keep you occupied and off the boards.

P.S. I retract my comment about you not doing the megaman persona justice, at least with in the context of the webcomic I linked to, because it presents a megaman who I believe reflects the same characteristics that your posts in this forum reflect about you.

I think he got the point, if not, he will be gone, no big deal.

I'll put this back on topic so at least it doesn't become another one of those worthless topics with nothing in it but stupidity and the resulting flames.

Forts in Nerf Wars are not practical or necessary. I am pretty much an expert on fortifications in water wars, and can tell you that they aren't needed in Nerf. The value of one, central static position in Nerf is not high. A better idea would be to establish a chain of defensive positions using the natural or man-made cover, like trees and walls, that lie in the path of your intended objective or direction of movement. Since Nerf darts travel further and are exchanged very quickly, the emphasis should be on mobility and fluid manuevers rather than holding a heavily fortified position that any astute enemy team will not attack in the first place.

If you want to wage a defensive battle, then lure your enemy in by faking weakness and moving around. If you want to wage an offensive battle, don't even bother with the question of fortifications. If you have the better tech, advantage in numbers, or better tactics, settling into fortified positions will yield the initiative to your enemy and they will probably lose no time in capitalizing on that.

Like some of the other nerfers said, you're not going to be sitting in a fort through a nerf battle, but if you play certain games such as ctf or attack and defend, nerf forts can be pretty cool. When we play ctf, teammates and I usually gather up a nice supply of ammo and keep it in the fort and stick a sharp shooter and trooper in there to protect the flag. We usually make our forts out of these cool blocks that are pretty large in size sitting around in my basement and we set up the fort a small distance from the flag. My basement is finished with a bar and play room, so we also use the bar as a fort on the far side of the basement. In outdoor wars, I have a pool deck, where we usually stick a loser on top of with a trooper under the deck to go through the passage way along the fence behind the pool to get to our main ammo supply and sometimes hostage cage (aka the trampoline w/ net). We haven't yet tried these ideas yet, but you could get some logs or something out in the woods and make a decent base that blends in with your surroundings and put a peep hole in it so you can spy on the enemy and set up an ambush. You can also use deer stands in trees to eat shit or look around the woods for enemys with binoculars. I hope I was of any help.

This was kind of old, but you added content, so it should be fine.

New insight learned from recent wars:

Fortifications are most effective when used in the form of natural advantage rather than human construction. For example, hiding a flag in a thick grove of reeds and calling a small area deep inside it your "base." Such an area totally negates range advantages, ambushes by an attacking team, and the effect of enemy sharp shooters. You'll hear an enemy trying to get in, and you'll be able to counter their advance very easily from a near invisible position. The reed groves at my park are so dense that one can hide 5 ft from the fringe and be completely invisible to those walking outside of said grove. Why build a fort in plain view when you can use superior natural cover and natural formations?

This is especially useful for scenario-based wars, where one team attacks a defending team's position and the such. Don't hide in a fort, where the enemy can pin you. Hide in the thickest groves, where you can quickly move and vanish, where enemy fire gets blocked by the leaves, and where you can not worry as much about defending.

One thing I also learned is that forts can suck the life out of a game. A fortified position can slow game-tempo to a crawl. Enemies can actually use that to their advantage, if they are losing, think they might lose, etc. A really smart, well-coordinated enemy could even use a defensive stand at a fort as a distraction, to cover a surprise flank attack. While you're trading fire, the enemy could have men working their way around to your rear. Especially in anything other than open ground, or in open ground surrounded by thick vegetation.

As for indoor fortifications, I have no comment, since I find indoor fighting to be boring. I only play that when we don't feel like losing darts. :P

In outdoor wars, I have a fort about 7 or 8 feet off the ground with lattice walls. It's sort of unfair because I can shoot the opposing team, but none of their shots make it through the walls. ^_^ It presents a unique challenge of shooting the guy in the fort through the only existing opening before he picks you off.

Indoor wars, boring? Does not compute.

Indoor fortifications? What the Hell?

As long as the topic's back up, I'll add.

We've had wars in my friend's basement to simulate World War I. We put tables, chairs, and stuff all over the place to make trenches. And then we'll put some obstacles in "no-man's land" to hide behind. I haven't done that for a few years now, so we might just be too big to do that. It was more fun than a circus with clean folk.

So they aren't exactly forts, but in a way it's the same concept.
