I tried this mod out and it totally screwed up my gun. I dont know how to fix it but i know it wasnt the mod, the foam stuff i used was really crappy i let it set for a week and then it just kinda flaked off. So im sure it worked for the people who didnt buy crappy foam.

Yes, you can just take out the air restrictors, but i highly recommend that you leave them in unless you do a barrel replacement, I have learned from experience.

If you leave them in you can't fire stefans. My experience tells me that if you can't fire stefans, the gun isn't woth firing.

Something else interesting is the fact that the expanding foam he used can also be used quite efficiently to fill in the tips of longshot streamline.

Although it is a huge pain to actually get it in tip, it makes the streamline that much better. (from my tests, anyway.)

Wow, that works! Thanks for the useful tip! I thought of making a sort of converted stefan by pushing a weight in that hole, centering it, and foaming it up. Better accuracy, and no mods needed!

Be sure to buy a fill-in-foam with the smallest dispenser as possible. The big ones make it a pain to do it.

if I could find one the size of a coffee stirrer, I would be happy.

Otherwise, I suggest making a small hole in the opposite side of the existing one, so the gas pressure that comes out doesn't blow the applier out of the dart. The fill tends to be sticky, so it isn't so much fun to get covered in it.

but yes, from an accuracy standpoint, the few darts I did manage to fill, they fly quite a bit straighter and even further.

Makes me wonder if Hasbro actually balanced the dart.

Great tutorial on this maverick mod, and the pictures really help.

One question thou, when removing the air resrictor, is it nessary to use the straw and foam? I've seen some who just remove the top rod section like you have but done nothing else to it. Just wondering thats all.

No, not at all.

All you have to do is remove the 3-pronged piece, and the spring underneath it.

The peg itself doesn't matter, as all it does is holds the micros in place. So it can be removed with wire cutters, a knife, etc.

The foam and straw method looks like it likely keeps the airflow contained, aka more direct pressure.

I just finished removing the air restrictors on my Maverick and adding a more powerful spring (from one of the dart tag guns, about the same size and more powerful, a good choice I think) and it feels like I am getting more power but the gun doesn't shoot as far as it did stock. I think your mod will fix that problem. Thanks!

I think a little more careful reading will improve your stay here.

Your first post was a necro thread. We ban people for necro threads. If you break another rule I'm going to ban you. So you might want to be careful about what you post from this point forward. Good luck.
