is there really a reason to carry a pistol in a war. I have never seen one used, and question there use. I mean If you use a "loser Rifle" I can see. They provide a backup if your rushed while reloading. On the other hand if your useing a PC you dont need one. It takes no time at all to drop a new clip in the gun, and thus you have no reason to carry a hand gun. What do you all think?

They aren't totally necessary I think, but as long as it's easy to do, why not carry another gun for whatever might happen?

If you play west coast style rules like we do, powerclips are not the order of the day. Being a crossbow man myself, an extra shot is a very important insurance policy, and infinitely faluable in holding opponents at bay until you have time to reload your primary. Besides, if you have to chase someone down a small, light weapon is just the thing you need for shooting a runaway in the back.

good point with the X-bow, but what about moding it so you have a overunder i.e. Groove's. How I see it, the pistol never work for me. I have never had a round stay in the gun when Wooing or running.

That's a problem with your sidearm, not with sidearms in general.

A well-holstered sidearm is valuable whenever there's a chance you'll run into more opponents than your primary can handle at once. Or if your primary takes awhile to reload. Or if you miss with your primary. Or if you want to go around a corner all akimbo and get smoked with style. Or... you get the picture.

I just find it handy to carry guns with multiple purposes. For instance, a Lock 'n Load as a primary (Sounds stupid, but I play medium-range, so 60ft PTG, quick reload is perfect), and a holstered Secret Shot 2 as a long range shot, when I need it. The advantage of the holstered weapon not only allows you to lighten your main weapon load, but allows you to switch to a weapon more suited to your situation.

If you mean sidearm in the strictly low-range, quick reload sense, I'd have to agree with you, considering the ability to graft an extra shot to your primary. But for expansion of battle effectiveness, hostering is quite useful.

I don't really use a sidearm. Most of the time, all I do is take my modded AT2000 and a lot of darts.

Sidearms are vital really. When I used a Crossbow, it provided a hold-off weapon so I wouldn't get rushed while reloading. When I used a PC, it provided a backup when I had spent my clip and didn't have time to pump the gun (it also, because it is a brass barrelled Splitfire, provided a longer range shot than my PC). Now that I'm switching to a brass barelled At3K (it looks like), I probably won't use it quite as often, but it will still be usefull in ballls-out charges, pistol wars, and a general feeling of security. With a well made holster/harness, it should never come out. I can run full speed, jump, dive etc without the gun flying out, and small (1 cm or so) sections of smaller diameter brass at the base of the Splitfire's brass barrels hold the darts in very tightly, so they don't fall out.

I can run full speed, jump, dive etc

That's not saying much.

Yeah, as a crossbow user, an additional shot comes in handy a lot.

For my LNL, I use a cheap Airsoft holster. Fits almost perfectly, is easy to draw, and looks commando-ish. Unfortunately, it doesn't fit any other guns. Of couse, I wouldn't use any other gun, except for my T3, so it doesn't really matter. It is really handy, and I never go to a war without it.

My LNL, BBB combo is deadly. I couldn't go into battle without the LNL plus it makes me look cool.

Without my dual LNL's I dont know what I would do. I use them when im running or charging up.Because of their great reload time there perfet.

Haveing never found a side arm that really works for me... I stick with my first statement... I dont see the use. With autos... pump as you run, and keep a constant amt. of air in the gun. X-Bowers... yeah you need the rounds, but I have never found the gun that works. Spring guns dont shoot that far. and pump pistols take longer to reload than your primary. Using a PC with 4 clips works great for me. I have never run in to a situation in which I need a 11th shot. And when Wooing, nothing beats the PC. Unless your ungodly good, or lucky. Your use of a pistol in a matrix style situation wont help.

Side arms aren't meant to have that much range or accuracy, when used correctly you should never fire them from a great distance. Besides, a LNL will fire a good 70ft if you mod it correctly.

but dosen't that require a whole new spring? A SF or a SS2 seems to work well. I guess its just that I like to be able to set the strenth of the shot... but on a good mod you see to be able to get bout. 70 feet of 5/6 pumps which take no time.

The problem with the PC is that you have ONLY 10 rounds, then you're pretty fucked if you're in the middle of a firefight. Yea you can do 2 shot bursts etc, but at the LANOs when you have 20 or 30 or even 40 people fighting, the firefights can really overwhelm you're ammo/air supply and without a hold-off weapon to have while you're reloading, you'll get rushed. However in a smaller war, that may not be as big of an issue as you can more easily disengage from the battle for a bit.

but your limited to 10 only if you keep the clip in the gun. If you get several detachable clips, then you have a bunch. Haveing never been to a really big war, I couldnt say, but I still dont see how you can run out of air with a PC if you pump and run at the same time. And if you go buck wild and throw a tank on yours then its almost imposable.

I know, I used two clips when I used the PC so I know what you're saying, the problem is that theres not always time to switch clips and re-pump in a heated situation. You're right, you should always pump as you go, and I would, but if you're taking on several people and you're firing several bursts at a time, you don't always have a chance to repump after each burst.

Really, we could argue this all day, I think in your size wars with your gun a sidearm isn't as necessary (although I'd still use one, but thats just me) as it would at a war the size of most of ours.

I found, with time, that I really wasn't very talented at juggling sidearms and primaries. That's essentially why I made my guns (Daemon and Cain). I found that I really can only use one gun at a time, and that's really a horrid inability to call your own but I found my way around it. The Horsemen and others, including the Wave and Spoon, incorporate sidearms into their games extremely well. I can't deny that, because at Apoc:2002 Spoon left quite the nasty bruise on my chest with his brassed SplitFires.

Guns like Lock & Loads, SplitFires, and MonoBlasts, really are good to have around. Especially for people with setups like Vacc, who uses a CrossBow. Like I think he said before, the sidearm is more so an insurance policy than anything. It's there when it's needed, and only then. Sidearms are a great way to insure victory, although I never found myself good with one.

No, you don't need a new spring, and the whole point of a side arm is that it is reliable and quick. Air pressure defeats this purpose in my opinion. A spring gun will always be better for this use. You never heve to worry about it leaking.

Yea I found that I had to rely a LOT on my sidearm at Apoc since I was the ONLY person using an automatic, and was therefore VERY out-gunned. Fortunately my sidearm has similar range as half the main guns there, but poorer accuracy and longer reload time. Better than nothing though, I got more kills with it than I did with my PC.

I always take a side arm, if not because im rushed and my primary weapon runs out of ammo just for pure extra ammo storage!

Anyone else notice that in one of the pictures evil flipped us off?

Oh and yeah I use a sidearm my LnL I love it...grr if only I had bought more. Especially in indoor wars were I tend to use a blastfire wth only shots my ammo is wasted preety fast so my LnL help me feel safe, and let me reload honestly I get about even kills with my guns.
