I need help. I here everybody talking about they PS2 Network Adpater Online and stuff. And so I looked it up. It's only $25 and I was wondering if anybody has here.
1.Is it worth it?

2.Should I buy it?

3.And how does it work? When I say how does it work I mean like is all you need to buy is the Network Adapter or do you need to buy other things. With it to be online and play with other people.

1. It is defiently worth it if you have online caplable games. I payed $40 for mine, and it was worth every penny.

2.If you actaully play ps2, yes defenetly.

3 It works by you hooking your internet cords into those ports there.you do not have to buy any thing else for it to work. About every game you see that is online capable will have somebody playing on it, with the exceptions of the first 2 atv games(they have been out so long nobody plays them any more).
I would defenetly get it, havieng one, I don't know how you could go with out one.
My questions to you:
1. What online capable games do you have?

2. What internet connection do you have.

Well TDS. If you've ever heard about it.

Most of mine are...I'm goind to get Call of Duty Finest Hour and I think that is, Lord Of The Rings The Return Of The King, Medal of Honor:Rising Sun, Fifa 2005, Madden 2004, MVP Baseball 2005 (I think it online), Tony Hawk Underground (don't play), and if Star Wars Battlefront 1 is then yes.

So does the phone line cord come with it or do you have to buy it?

Is tds braod band? If it is not, then I wouldn't buy it. I think only one or two games used dial up for online play. It doesn't come with the internet cord. I forgot about the internet cord. But what i did was transfer the internet cordform my computer to my ps2.
Edit: Davis doesn't know what he is talking about in the hq thread. You shouldn't pay attention to him anyways.

i have battlefield 2 with the network adapter it is deefenitly worth it

If you have dial up, don't get it. You can play games on a dial up connection, but with lag and so many games being broadband only its not worth it.

You need a cord to run from your modem to the ps2.

So you're are saying a need to BUY a cord. Will somebody plase be direct and say either:

Yes, you need to buy a cord for it.
or
No, the cord comes with the adapter.

Sorru it's just been frusterating and also, I'm not sure if I have dial-up or broadband. I have: TDS High Speed Internet DSL
Is High Speed Internet DSL dial up or broadband. If it is broadband I am getting it.

DSL is broadband. You will need to buy a cord to go from your internet modem to the network adapter. It will either be RJ-45 Patch cable or RJ-45 Crossover cable. I'm not sure which though. It will also help if you have a wired router, so you can have your computer and your PS2 online at the same time, unless your modem has more than one out-ports.

Team_Slaya, unlike Xbox(which has a subscription fee). The ps2 is free after you but the online adapter. The downside of this is that the games have to provide their own servers.

Ah, i see. I dunno if any of my games really go online, except for Champions: Return To Arms. The PS2, for me, is an RPG console. Yeah, it has it's multi-platform shooters, and Ratchet and Clank/Jak, but it's mostly RPG's, which are my favorite game genre. I'm still waiting on FFXII, which will be for PS2!! Woot.

So...ok I get it. I'm just asked my parents and they said I need broadband. So to get hooked up I can't just hook my network adapter up to a phone jack in the wall, (or can I?) but I have to hook the Network Adapter to my computer internet modem? Because if that is so I don't know how that will work because my computer and PS2 are in two ifferent rooms and I can't have extension cords and such running all over the house. Will I need to get another modem or can I just hook it up to the wall if I have Broadband?

No, I'm pretty sure that you cannot hook the thing up to a wall jack. Those are phone lines usually, and anything that uses phone lines is dialup. Your computer's internet modem should actually have a cable running to it that looks like a TV cable if it's broadband (I think, I've had comcast and that is cable internet). You will need to ether a) buy a router and plug it into the computer, modem, and your ps2; or unplug your computer and plug in the ps2 to play. You will probably need cables running around the house, which isn't impossible (they make long cables) but your parents might not appreciate it.

Or you might be able to go wireless, but lets not get into that.

Well I guess since I can't have wires through the halls and rooms. I should probably go wireless. Is that expensive? Or is it somewhat cheap?

Wireless could get expensive, it's not that hard to route a wire under the carpet or through the attic, but wireless routers will probably run $100 give or take if you can't find a way to use a wired connection.

And a wire that was very long would not cost you more than $30. For wireless you gotta buy a wireless router that plugs into your cable modem/router. Then you have to get a reciever... But I have no idea what kind since computers replace the jack with a card that recieves wireless, I don't know what you get that recieves and still has a cord to plug in.

Ive whanted to get one of these for ages but when my desire first struck i still had dial up. NOW i have Broadband 2 (12000 kb/s) and have started to play online heaps. The problem is most of my really good games are on PS2 and are only multiplayer with online play. So from what i take once i buy the adaptor and plug it into my ps2 then put the cable from my modem into my adaptor thats it?

Yes, I did read your post, and it doesn't appear to have anything to do with what we are saying now. He cannot run cables through his house, so we've been trying to explain wireless. I was saying how I don't know what kind of wireless system will have a reciever with a wired plug for this kind of situation.

Wait...if he has DSL it runs through a phone jack. Cable doesn't, but DSL just feeds into your existing phone line. I'm not sure(I use a modem to connect my PS2 to the internet), but all he might needto do is run a phone line from his ps2 to the wall.

NO, you must have a modem in between your wall and your PC/PS2/XBOX/whatever. You must also make sure that there is some sort of filter thing(not too sure what it is) on the port on the wall where you have your modem attatched to.
