I've had an idea of making one of my nerf guns a RIS system or at least a cosmetic RIS. My dad always sees me modding my guns and suggested that I use a ribbed plastic sheath to cover my barrel, just for looks and a cool texture. Also, I realized I could use it to make RIS design on the side of my gun. So I finally got around to it and got some of the sheath at my local ACE. The plastic sheath is primarily used to hold electrical wiring inside. Just ask a employee for something along those lines and they should know what you are talking about. Anyway, here is my BBB with some of the sheath pieces glued on the side to create a RIS system look.

I used 3/4 inch sheath to cover my barrel and detail the side of the gun. For the barrel, the sheath was not big enough to cover the whole circumfrence. For the part thats supposed to be a RIS system, I had to cut the tubing in half and quarter slivers. I love the look and feel of this gun now, it really does give it a more realistic look. I hope you guys think about trying this out yourselves.

Its a rail system that allows accessories to be put on guns, i.e. flashlights and lasers. Here's an example of an airsoft gun with a RIS at the front with a mounted laser:

Dunno how I feal about the whole barrel being covered, but the rest looks awesome. Doesnt really look like a RIS, but it definately gives the BBB that extra somthing. Looks awesome.

EDIT: Mabey just have half of the barrel covered ( starting from the front )?

Ronster; I think, (correct me if I'm wrong please), that RIS stands for Rail Integrated System, again, defined by Snake.

Pretty cool, there. No performance value, but hey, part of the fix-up process is making the blasters look good and if it makes you happy, then more power to you!

That might be an idea for people who chop up their NiteFinders, to fill in the open spaces where the light was cut away, etc.

I usually buy the smaller diameters to organize the wires under the hood of my vehicles...I'm going to try that when I pick up larger sizes.

NinjZ's idea of half the barrel covered...did you try that? That might look good, too.

Looks really cool but im not sure if it would work. What would you stick to it anyway? Lazer pointers are cool but I never thought they helped much. Anyway it looks cool so who cares?

The idea and look of an RIS (Rail Interface System) has always been appealing to me, and I believe you pulled off that look quite nicely. That truly is a work of fine [nerf] art.

I have had a nerf RIS planned for a while now (which euphemism can confirm), that falls on the opposite end of the spectrum: more functional in combat, but about as aesthetically pleasing as a puke covered skunk. I say this, of course, not to belittle your achievement since your work is truly amazing, but merely as congradulations for beating me to the punch.
