So this is how it goes. While attempting to Clip Mod my Maverick (for faster reload time not so I could have 2 clips) I learned that Clip modding a Maverick breaks the cylinder. So after pondering for a while I decided I would go out and buy an RF20 or something of that nature so I would be able to compensate for this mishap. So what I plan on doing is removing the pegs and air restrictors from the RF20 and placing the cylender from the RF20 and placing them onto my Maverick.

Kind of like this:

So if anyone has any suggestions to help me with this or has some links that may help me please post them here. I DO NOT plan for the barrels to auto rotate, I will do that myself. (Do the barrels have 20 set positions or are they free rotating? I need to know this before i got and spend $20 on an RF20)

Is there any other gun that is currently being sold that may have any value in the nature of what I am doing?

Thanks for your time. Hope you guys can help me with this.

You'll have to have and o ring something to make a seal, and something to hold it on, a super powerful glue.

If you're looking to have auto-rotating barrels, you'll have to use the back of the stock drum of barrels from the Mav because it's part of the rotation mech, but there's the Tek 10 which has ten barrels of course, that's only an extra four barrels but it's only like $10 instead of $20-25. If you don't need auto-rotating barrels, again, use the Tek 10 turret because it's only $10 and you could get decent ranges if you single it anyway if you plan to use its turret anyway.

I wish they'd rerelease the AT4k though, they've done all the other Air Techs. Twelve barrels on a Mav would be cool.

Of course, your biggest problem will be a seal. The Mav already has a poor plunger tube to turret seal stock; if you replace the turret I think it'll be even worse.

Good luck, tell us if you can pull it off.

Well you couldn't make it auto rotating using the mav mech, because the hexagonal bit that fits in to the turret on the mavrick has six position and there are ten pairs of barrels on a Rf20 turret, because 6 doesn't go cleanly into 10 you would have to skip shots. But a 4k turret would work fine in you in effect, made it double barreled. Oh and if your interested you welcome to the barrel off my fucked 4k or 3ks...

If you want a barrels-sawed-off 4k turret I could sell it to you for cheap. I dunno what you're talking about NM, I hated the 4k. Leaks more than either of the other AT airguns, had a worse seal with the turret, the rotating mechanism is flimsy... I could go on. It's just bad.

Oh, I don't have one, I'm not saying it's a good gun; I've never fired one. I'm just saying it would be cool to put its turret on the Mav. Plus I buy pretty much every gun that comes out that shoots darts.

Yeah, it would own to have any turret on the mav. I'd laugh, but not like how I laugh when I see the n00bs that think the RF50 exist. The NF20 was an awesome idea too...but it'll fall apart under the weight of the turret.

*EDIT* Oh man, I'm sorry ompa. I didn't even know anyone went through with the NF20 idea, I thought it was just a concept. *END EDIT*

It would be impossible to fire all 20 shots out of the barrels. Look behind the turret in the RF20. Like the PC, it has one of those alternators that divert air to one barrel at a time. It's a black foam thing with two holes, if you don't know what I'm talking about.

In order to fire all shots, you would need to integrate that into the system. That piece is connect to quite a bit of junk in the RF20, and that can't fit into a measly Maverick.

It's a cool concept, but it would never work. Even if it did, I wouldn't be using that in a war.

PS: Dammit, I could have sworn that there was an RF50 somewhere... ^_^

This project seems like a waste of time. Even with the NF20 you need two hands to fire the damn thing. I dont see why you would butcher a perfectly good rapid fire to make a peice of junk sidearm. With the NF it gets decent range but behind a maverick spring the range would be garbage. Most likely even more garabge than the Mav itself. If anything, try the NF20 before wasting your time on something we all know will get less range. Besides, the NF is more durable than the maverick. If you wanna do this for indoor wars then go ahead. Without a doubt in my mind I would choose a RF20 over a Mav20 anyday.

Well, I'm mostly doing this because I broke my mav and would have a fun time figuring out how to add more barrels to it. You're probably right in saying the RF20 is massively superior to a MAV20. I think I want to go with the MAK Ten (As in MAV TEK Ten).

I also think that this would be a complete waste of a Rapid Fire. Unless, that is, you improved and increased the power of the Maverick itself before adding barrels, so that the mod would be worth it. Otherwise, you would lose range because the [in my opinion underpowered] Maverick spring doesn't match the range you could get with air pressure guns.

First post, too. B)

I agree with that. Just use a Rapid Fire 20 with no mav stuff on it. There's no point in converting a full auto gun into a plain one. It's like taking a machine gun and making it into a rifle with lower range.

Actually this is my first post too B)
But I've posted a few times on Nerf HQ.

The RF gets about 35', the Mav gets 35'. As long as he can maintain a seal, it wouldn't lose range.

Not all air pressure guns get the best range, my RF only gets 30-35' with Stefan micros.

My 3 air pressure guns are a RF and a pair of homemades. So that's where my "air pressure guns get better range" comment came from.

Hmm, I'll have to measure my RF's range, I could have sworn it could do better than 35'. I am assuming that the RF has a check valve to release extra pressure, if you freeze it the range could be improved to a certain extent.

You have to be carefull when plugging that valve (called the over-pressure release valve) because if you pump it too many times, you may blow the air tank or another important valve.

And that is where experience with water guns comes into play. I've frozen quite a few of those valves, blown out a trigger valve, and replaced it. [in water guns] Nerf guns are surprisingly similar, which helps a ton. The learning curve is less significant due to many of the same internal parts [although as I've just learned, have different names].

I can imagine that blowing a nerf air tank is much worse of a problem than blowing a water gun trigger valve. Therefore, common sense and caution would prevail if I were to freeze the valve.

The RF20 doesn't really have a conventional overpressure release valve. It's more of a little pin that gets pushed in when you pump it up to about 20 times or so. At least I think that's what that piece is.

I don't think you'd get a whole lot more range with a plugged pump (valve) in an RF compared to without; plus, with its already semi-low reliability, I'd advise against it because it may cause some problems and the RF is a complicated piece of equipment to fix if something goes wrong. When my first one was screwed up after I opened it and removed the turret to do an air restrictor removal, it took me quite a while to figure out what was wrong and fix it by myself.

The highest (documented) range mine ever hit was 41' parallel to the ground, but usually it stays within the range of about 35-40' flat. I don't really think plugging the valve would be worth it anyway just to get a few feet more range - the gun's intended purpose is just to spit darts. I think your best bet for increased range would be to do a barrel replacement with some other kind of barrels like brass or CPVC or something. I haven't tried this, mind you, but if it works on other guns it would probably work on this one too.
