I haven't modded any nerf guns but would like to learn how to do some. What are some suggested firsts. I have access to a triple shot, a big bad bow, a crossbow that's plunger has disconnected at the little plate part(I think i need some epoxy to fix it). I also have an airtech or 2, a numerous nite finders, a couple of those 6 shot things that are related to the nite finder, a ripsaw, and maybe some others. So any advice would be helpful

All answers can be solved here:

Start with modding the NF.

Hello there! Usually, making clear, grammatically correct posts is the way to go here at the Haven. You're already 90% there, however.

Your arsenal seems pretty good, and when modding, you just have to think about a couple of basic things.

1. Take out anything that might impede the flow of air, like air restrictors. This helps to get the air to the dart faster and with more power.

2. Get the right barrel for your darts. Search for the barrel to gun selections, and this thread will also point you in the right direction. You can also just run through a simple logic test. If there's a lot of air, use a slightly loose fit on your darts. This applies more for your Airtechs, for they let out a lot of air, slowly. Spring power guns, like your NF, however, usually work better with a more tight fitting barrel. Overall, it depends on your darts. Take a couple to a hardware store and buy a couple different materials, and decide for yourself.

3. Just because a certain mod for a gun says to do something exactly, doesn't mean that it's the only way to mod the gun. NERF is all about variation. Be creative in your own ways, and I'm not saying that you can't copy anything either. There's sort of an even medium thing going on there :D .

4. Find what kind of guns work for you. Do you like to have longer range guns to be able to keep people back? Do you not care about range, and just care about putting as much foam in someone's direction as possible? All of these factor into which gun to use. It doesn't mean that you can't vary your style, but an excellent nerfer usually sticks to his trusty PC or Airtech2000.

All in all, find what YOU want to do with YOUR guns, because you paid for them. We are merely here to help you out along the way. Well, at least that's what happened for me. Because, I was a newb once/still am a newb.

Have fun,

TS

I would say start with the smallest guns you have, and mod them all leading up to the Xbow. That one needs to be modded last, because it'll end up being best, and you need to have experience.

Some of those 6 shot things related to the Nite Finder? I am appalled.

There are two basic types of Nerf guns, spring guns and air guns. If you plan to mod a crossbow, I would suggest you do practice runs on spring guns. The internals of the NiteFinder is basically a scaled down version of a crossbow internals. There are some differences in the end of the plunger, but it is essentially the same basic setup. Spring guns in my opinion are by far an easier mod.

Air guns get trickier and demand more practice. If you want to practice on those, I would recommend picking up an at2k twin pack at Target for $9.99. That's your best bet in terms of guns in the store.

As was stated before, modding takes some practice. Work on the least important guns first and then work your way up to the guns you want to yield best perfomance.
