Yeah, here come the flames I know, but... I modded my NF by putting PVC on the end of the barrel and it didn't work, I mean it didn't shoot stefans at all. I guess PVC doesn't work for spring guns? Well anyway, I want to know the cheapest material that will work for it, I've heard brass but won't that be really hard to cut?

PS: YES I searched, but my searches have been faulted before, I also looked back to about January and nothing.

I would go with brass personaly, or a crayola barrel. The brass is easy to cut if you have a fine tooth hack saw.

Really? Wow okay thanks, I have a war on saturday and I have to supply 3/4 of the guns, so I don't want to lose all my nerf darts, (that means the official 5$ nerf darts) I thought it would be really tough. I know how hard it can be to drill into metal, drill, lubricate, lubricate, lubricate, drill, lubricate, lubricate, lubricate ect) okay so that'l make it fire stefans fine? I show you what I did, I'll just go open my NF and take pics.
See how I snipped the tip of the barrel off?

And I glued on the PVC:

then I stuck it back together and NOTHING

You glue the PVC onto the plunger tube...not the barrel. Just follow the mod in the mod section and use PVC instead of PETG.

The other problem probably is that your stefan foam isnt the right fit for you. Since youre using PVC, youre using mega stefan right? Try using crayola barrels with micro stefans. If you are using stock ammo, then you most definately need crayola barrels.

That's an AT2000 in your picture.

?

There's a great mod by the late great Ragornocks (he's not dead, just gave up Nerf for full-time paintball). Right o'er here, that most of us have been using. It's pretty much standard procedure. Add the barrel material of your choice, depending on what you're shooting (stock darts, micro stefans, mega stefans.)

I have seven Nite Finders and six of them are modified with Crayola marker barrels. Useable with micro darts (the ones that come with the NF) or micro stefans (1/2" FBR foam), and get honest 40-50 foot ranges consistently. My other one has a old, corroded piece of brass for a barrel, but gets about 10 feet more, NO BANDS OR BUNGEES or spring replacements.

Try it...

And thanks for posting pics. It sure makes things easier to interpret.

EDIT: That looks about right, though you might want to align the barrel with the plunger tube. It might be the picture quality, but it looks like it's pointing a bit downward. If that's 1/2 inch SCH 40 PVC, you can stick a Crayola marker barrel down it and get a great seal for shooting micro stefans.

No, you need that disc to be on. It's easier to glue a barrel to that than it is without it. Trust me.

When I did my second NF, brass inside 9/16" PVC, I actually did remove that whole piece and the thing worked quite well.

Just to sum it up though, make sure you have a Brass, PETG, Crayola, or CPVC barrel for the 1/2" FBR that you are going to buy.

I'm going to try my mod again, but I was making stefans and ran out of hot glue! <_< figures, I bought more stefans, and they seem to be bigger then the ones you guys have, If I bought 9.14 would it fit in my PVC barrel? Well I know it would fit, but would It get a good enough shot off to actually shoot more then 30 feet?
The mod didn't work, it got an average of about one foot, after misfiring 3 times, and yet my nf, STILL survives and after taking out the barrel and putting the refular barrel in, it still shoots! yes it's airtight, yes i followed the mod exactly I used PVC so... WHAT"S WRONG?

You are gluing/epoxying your barrels in place, right? I'm asking because I can't see how you're able to replace your barrel with the stock one unless you have two air restrictor disks. Never use only tape for a barrel mod, it doesn't work very well.

Your stefans do fit, right? If it's a snug fit, but you don't have to smash your darts in, it's a good fit.

Other than those two problems, I don't see how you could possibly get those ranges from a NF, unless your plunger chamber has a giant hole in it (I think you would notice that).

Of course I'm glueing, but when I didn't, it shot the barel further, that was funny. I'm going to run to Rona tomoorow or some time, to look for 1/2 FBR.

Yeah, looks like your stefans aren't the right size. From what I can tell from your pics, your darts look like micros, and your barrel looks like a mega/bigger-than-mega/in-between-micro-and-mega barrel. If you can, try this and tell me the results:

Step 1. Put a dart into your barrel. How hard was it to put your stefan in? Did you have to cram it into your barrel? Did it fall to the back of your barrel without you pushing it in?

Step 2. Once your dart is inserted into your barrel, point your gun so it's point as if you were firing at the ground. Did your dart fall out? If not, shake, rattle, and roll your gun. Has it fallen out?

Step 3. Measure the length of your barrel. If it's over 4 inches, it's two long for a sidearm of the NF's power, and thus decreasing range by creating excess friction.

Thanks, I went to Canadian Tire and found some 1/2 inch, so I bought them out of it. (and by that I mean 2) Answers:
Megas
1. Won't fit in

3. Yes, It's 3.5 inches
Micros.
1. Took a little effort, not much

2.Won't fall out

Good. Sounds like a pretty good fit as long as your micros can be rammed into your barrel in a second of less. Now find your micro and insert it into your barrel's shaft. Now feuer frie!

As you pull the trigger, close your eyes, cross your fingers, pray to Allah while facing Mecca, and hop on one foot while doing a Native American ritual to bring forth preciptation. Now open your eyes slowly. You should see a stefan 30-60 feet relatively directly in front of where you pointed your gun. If not, the barrel is the front of the gun, not the back, silly. If your dart went forward but only for a few meters, please convert your crazy SI units that all the world uses into the Imperial System feet that we lazy Americans have come to love, know what I'm saying, eh? If this number is severly low,do the Ulitmate NF Mod to decrease your range even further and then go try modding a different gun.

(Sorry I couldn't reply earlier; AP World's a beach.)
