i have a firefly and after the restricters have been removed it seems ok (but very uncomfortable) and am thinking about picking up a dart tag set, but i have a few questions for anyone out there who either has both or has experience with both. How do the springs between the two compare to one another and which one has more power after the restricters have been removed. Third and final question being does anyone out there have any ideas on where to pick up better and more powerful springs to enhance the guns performance for any gun including these two guns?

P.S. i have looked at lowes and home depot and 2 hardware stores around my house and plan on going to ace some time in the next 8 days (it is 15 miles away)

The hardware stores would be the best bet. I went to one of my local hardware stores (forget the name at the moment), and they had plenty of springs in every size. If you are going to buy more powerful springs, remember to go to the store with the length of the spring and the diameter or radius of the spring that you need. After that, you should just compare and pick up a spring (or two) that you think would be more powerful. The springs do have a gauge, so you should try to get a higher gauge spring for more power.

the gauge of the metal and rate that it has are a bit more technical than i would like to go, for the most part when i do take my trips to what ever place it is that i would be looking or even buying springs i do have the springs in hand to compare sizes (ID,OD and uncompressed length) to make sure that it will fit the gun

If you get to powerful of a spring though, you might end up cracking your gun.

i was a steel stud framer once upon a time and am very familiar with using sheet metal so it would be no big deal to reinforce the gun, so i wouldn't be to worried about that

I haven't actually opened up a Firefly, but the mech seems enough like the Maverick's that I'd be scared to add a more powerful spring without a really good idea of how to reinforce the thing ahead of time.

For all of the hardware stores I've been in, there's been a wall of springs somewhere. Just ask someone who works there...unlike some items (like brass), springs are really common, and the people working at your hardware store should know where they are. As far as the three stores nearest to me, however, I've been unable to find any good springs for use in cocking guns, so I'm going to try to get ahold of some AR15 springs, as per Boltsniper's Homemades.

ok so i have both now, dart tag and FF. the thing about these guns is there is no real place to upgrade them besides removing the restricters or putting better springs in them and as far as the reinforceing goes there isn't a good spot to do that cause all the tension on the gun is on the clip that holds the plunger and the plunger shaft and for the compression tube it isn't worth reinforceing cause the amount of force that you would need to break either side would be well over double the force needed to break the plunger shaft and the clip that holds it.

So i end with saying the guns don't cost that much and i have no plans what so ever to reinforce the guns in any way but i will be putting better springs in them when i find the store that sells them, and i don't know what stores you guys have been going to, but the stores around where i live the people that work in them are snot nose punks that don't know anything and got hired on the bases that they were related to someone. and so the hunt continues for the springs!

Actually, though the firefly's barrel rotation method is the same as the mav, the firing method is more like an NF.
