Yeah it's about the same and gets better ranges once modded.

Based on the Modifications section on this site, I'd say that after modding, the guns perform about equally, though I don't know anyone in my area who wars with a Hornet or a Blastfire.

I'd really like to get my hands on a Hornet, but I'm not about to buy a N-Strike, considering that they're $40 and I don't want/need the Titan or the Scout (nevermind anything else the N-Strike comes with). If they were sold individually, I'd gladly pay $15 for one, but I'm not motivated enough to find one to buy online.

Performance-wise, they are the same. The Hornet has one extra shot, but takes more pumps. The BlastFire, has one less shot but takes less pumps. Also, since the BFs barrels are in a line, it makes it easier to aim than the three rows of side by side barrels the Hornet has.

The blastfire is much easier to mod, as I understand it.

The BF needs far fewer pumps than the Hornet does; the BF needs 5-8, the Hornet needs around 15 IIRC [/expanding on NinjZ's comment]. That alone is a huge advantage. I haven't modded the BF except for taking the pegs out, but unless you really want that much better range, in my book it almost doesn't need it; its a close-up multi-shot weapon. That's not to say I wouldn't if I had the time though...

The BF is quite easier to mod soley in the fact that the hornet barrels are not removeable. The Hornet also requires a lot of dremmeling and drilling to get brass/PETG to even fit in the chopped down barrels. I think the ease of the mod can easily be seen if you compare the BF mod up in the mods section and Ompas Hornet mod.
