I have read alot about barrel constriction on spring guns. How exactly does this help and is there a way to do it with pvc/cpvc (I can't get any brass).

Eagles may fly, but weasels don't get caught in jet engines.

Yes you can use Pvc or CPVC they are actually pretty good materials for Spring guns.
First off which material you use depends on a couple things, namely what type of darts you want to use and what gun you are modding.
If you want to use Stock Megas, Mega stefans and and stock mirco darts the best choice is 1/2'' PVC. Barrels for stock Megas only need be long enough to fit the dart in. Barrels for Mega Stefans and stock micro's can be longer because these darts can fit farther down to make full use of the available air pressure when fired.
If you want to use micro stefans and or stock micros get 1/2'' CPVC. You may want to use a dremel to sand out the loading end of your new barrel. Again for stock darts the length doesn't need to be longer then the foam on your dart, but for stefans it can be longer to capture more of the air pressue available.
Other materials you might use include PETG, which you'll have to buy from someone on the forum who has it available.

What about something like a crossbow, it's a spring gun but needs a long barrel. Should I just make the bottom of it constricted?
FYI: I use stock micros.

You could do a hybrid barrel and an X-bow (or BBB) would be a good candidate. A short piece of CPVC (say 2-3 inches) glued to a longer piece of PVC would work pretty well. I did something like that on a super soaker I converted and it workes great, and allows me to to fire pretty much any dart I want.
Again you'll want to sand down the inner part of the CPVC a bit; I like using my dremel but good old sand paper will get the job done if you take enough time.
You'll also want a ram-rod to tap the dart into the CPVC a bit. The CPVC will give the dart a bit of grip allowing the pressure to build up before it fires, in theory improving your ranges from just using PVC.

Or you could do a breech and put a coupler around the cpvc. Thanks for the help cobbers. This will help me with my homemade.
