Has anyone ever made an effective, multi-shot homemade? I mean like how the Blastfire can fire 5 shots with one button-pressing.

No, but I've got a friend who made an air cannon with multiple solenoid valves hooked to the same switch to increase airflow. Its like the PAC 5, and shoots golf balls a half mile.

Any homemade with a long barrel can be a multi-shot.

Uh...Are you sure that thing is legal? ;) Wow that must be a tight gun. Have you tested darts in it yet?

CAUTION: These plastic BBS sting like a mother when you get hit by them, so don't go shooting at the cat with it.

The legality of air cannons varies from area to area. In general, however, they aren't classified as firearms and are not restricted.

If it has a barrel diameter suitable for golf balls I doubt darts would do too well. He'd need a barrel adapter to bring it down to the right size.

As far as that goes, I'm thinking about putting a 3' aluminum barrel insert on my combustion (non-pneumatic) spud gun just for kicks. I'll let y'all know how far a dart goes when powered by hairspray.

With the volume of my combustion chamber, I have serious doubts about structural integrity when using propane/lighter fluid/various O^2 mixtures/etc.

OTOH, I get two or three hundred meter onion launches with hairspray.

Mmmm... Liquid fire spewed, coupled with superheated balls of steel, fired from a loud cannon... Not quite a firearm, but certainly lethal. ;)

Hope to hear back about it soon, with no fatalities.

Or if there are casualities, make sure that they are just trolls who have visited any nerf board ;)
