With some free time the other day, I went through the entire General Nerf and the Modifications sections. I could tell you how many of the same topics I saw, but I won't. The search function isn't the best for me, and after going through the forums, a lot of my questions were answered and I probably wouldn't of found it using the search function.

I went ahead and voted that I do, but it would be nice if there was a both option.

I use the search feature when I am asking some sort of gun specific question usually, otherwise if I do not see it on the first two pages I just post.

I usually search with Google. It works a lot better than the search function built in to the forums. I'm sure this has been said before, but just go to Google and type in
site:nerfhaven.com "your-search-here"
into the search bar.

I dont search. NERF modification isnt rocket science. Since 99% of all mods are basicaly the same, theres no need for me to search.

Agreed with the NinjZ man.

The theory behind increasing Nerf blaster performance is pretty much elementary...once that part is understood, it's only a matter of making things that are ergonomically advantageous, or improving on appearance, or just plain weird.

The only real performance mods are either to increase range, or increase firepower (shots per weapon, hence integrations, etc.). Thus far has no one created the perfect medium between the two, although Boltsniper's FAR is not bad; only thing is that you can duplicate his performance (5 or 6 shot, 80-90 ft. range) with a modded AT3k for about the same amount of money, but a lot less headaches. Yeah, my FAR....whenever.*throws hands up*


Back on topic; I don't use search function all that much. I see what blaster I have, and understanding the theories, use what I have laying around (PVC, PETG, Crayolas, etc.) to increase performance. Mix and match. Trial and error. When I achieve my goals for that blaster, I put it into the arsenal. Now my son isn't afraid of the hot glue gun anymore, so he's beginning to learn some basics.

I just browse the forums every now and then to see what everyone has been cooking up. If the question is very modification specific (i.e., plungers on TTGs, for example), I take it as a legitimate pickle that the poster may be in. If it's super generic (any mods for a 2K?), well, it doesn't take long to figure there's some posting going on before reading up a bit.

The only time I really use the search function is when someone is slinging B.S. at us, and I go back to their previous entries to catch them in their lies. The lesson? Tell the truth. And search if you have to.

Searching is good. Ninjz and Piney don't count, they know their shit. Searching is a must, if you disagree with me, read the COC. If you still disagree with me, well then I bid you to enjoy the next 9999 days of your life.

The other way is not to ask stupid questions. If it looks like a problem you can FIND OUT FOR YOURSELF if you spend at least 2 hours on it, then it's probably been talked about millions of times before.

And by the way, I find it helpful to stick in qualified usernames with my searches too, so I get posts with more qualified information/experience.

I generaly only search, if I remeber a mod or somthing from when I was browsing the forums and want to look at it agian, I find I can in most cases muddel my way through it. In my searchless defence how ever I will point out that the search function didn't work till I downloaded the plug-in.
I hope this doesnt count as disagreaing for teh banage.

Since nobody has mentioned it here, I'll point you to the thread discussing our Firefox/Google search plugin which I find quite useful. It won't help you with anything posted in the last week or three, but you shouldn't need to search for that stuff anyhow.

When I joined the NIC, I read every post on NO and NC before I wrote my first post. For me, search is to look for something I've already read but want to check again. And, like Piney, to keep you guys honest.

Same here, I often get an error.

I voted " I look through the forums". I've been around a while, and can usually remember wether I've come across something before or not and how long ago. I've also used www.nerfworld.com as a good recourse for mods.

I love searching. I was looking for mods on this one gun and had at least an hour of reading on problems/possibilities/ranges/succesful mods. I beleive the main problem is people dont set the drop menu to "any date" so when they search nothing comes up because it is automatically set at "last 30 days" If Cxwq were able to change that so its automatically "any date" we would have less useless new topics on old news.

In all seriousness (though I was completely serious above) searching is not punishment, it's a service. If you are looking for a specific set of information, and it does already exist in our forums, then finding this info via a search will save you time and effort. Not only that, but you'll likely find information that people will be unwilling to post again and again. I'm not saying that you should spend your days combing our archives, but that you should look at searching them as a superior way to gather information. So before you post just ask yourself "could I find this information in a search?" If the answer is yes, do yourself a favor and save us all some time.
