12MHz Motorola 68000
66MHz 80486
120MHz Pentium (pre-MMX)

Fujitsu Celeron 300MHz Laptop
Cyrix 6x86 266+ mega tower
Sun SPARC 10
Intel 486 33MHz
Sun 4/40 SparcStation IPC (at one point had 3 of these complete with external SCSI enclosures)
80386 SX/16
80286 16MHz
AT&T 3b1/7300 8088 10MHz UNIX System V Release 2 (The computer with the future built in!)
Atari 800 6502 1.8MHz with BASIC and Assembler Editor cartridges. This baby had sprites and collision detection in hardware!

Commodore VIC-20
18KB bytes free
Cassette tape data storage
Space Wars (similar to Space Invaders) cartridge game
Several lame games on tape.
BASIC, baby.

Any takers? I'm going to check my mom's house (my old room) when I go back to visit.

My PC:
Piece of Shit Dell 4800 Dimension:
256 RAM
55.5GB HD 20 Left

I don't know the other specs seeing as I was 12 and just wanted one of those things my brother had, but when I have the money I am building a comp that will kick this thing's ass.

Even though it was awhile ago, PissBacon, your desktop is so cool I think I need new pants. What OS is that, Linux? I actually am planning on installing a partition of Linux on my comp, a piece of shit Dell.

Speaking of processor cores I earlier said I was upgrading to a AMD 4000+. Ayone know what the differences are between ones like Newcastle, Clawhammer, San Diego, Venice, Barton and which ones are better?

In general, the Venice revision of AMD processors are ideal, though if you aren't overclocking it doesn't matter too much.

Too bad Dell sells overpriced computers, like any other retailer.

Does anyone have a shuttle pc or similar form factor?

Slaya, that is just a modified windows shell. The shell is the gui part of windows, so really the start menu and all you see is easily substituted for something much cleaner. I've also chosen to not have icons clutter my desktop; the bar at the top has more than enough functionality. Currently I'm running the litestep shell using a nonstep theme, but there are tons of different shells and skins available. Be careful what you install though, some of the shells/skins have memory leaks (shivers).

I'd like to add it was only in the past few months I bought my computer; I tend to be thrifty and wait until parts are reasonably priced, instead of spending $700 on an effing graphics card.

Bishop, in response to your question about processor cores.
Core Comparison. I think that the order goes from best to worst, Venice, San Diego, Clawhammer, Newcastle. I am confused about you mentioning barton in there because I think all of the other cores are 64 bit only and I don't think that barton has a 64 bit chip. I am also not sure if you meant 64 bit 4000+ or 32 bit. If 32 bit then barton would apply, but I am pretty sure that the rest are 64 bit exclusive.

Does anyone have a shuttle pc or similar form factor?

As I mentioned back on page 1, I have several Shuttles. The one with the 9800 in it runs pretty hot, but it can handle 720p WMV HD so I'm reluctant to take the card out. Until HD-DVD is affordable I won't have any other way of getting HD signals to my TV.

Mine:
AthlonXP 2500+
2GB RAM
120GB WD HDD
Shuttle SN41G2
Onboard nForce2 video
2x 17" ViewSonic LCDs

[..snip..]

Media Center:
AthlonXP 2500+
1GB RAM
200GB WD HDD
Shuttle SN41G2
Sapphire 9800/128MB
Optoma 65" 16x9 HD DLP RPTV (DVI) <-- my favorite monitor <g>

Alex:
AthlonXP 1700+
1GB RAM
80GB WD HDD
Shuttle SK41G
Onboard VIA video
15" NEC LCD

Oooooh, SPARC machines! I heart SPARC. And I still want to get my hands on a nice VAX system.

I used to have a Cyrix PC. The second computer my family owned was a Cyrix 6x86 120MHz system which CLAIMED to be on-par with a Pentium 150MHz system. It was a boldfaced lie.

My cousin's husband (cousin-in-law?), who is also a co-worker of mine, first learned to code on an Atari 800. I, similarly, began coding on a Commodore64. Ahhhh, memories...

Oooooh, SPARC machines!  I heart SPARC.  And I still want to get my hands on a nice VAX system.

My first multi-user environment was my university VAXCluster. The lab had ~100 DEC VT320 terminals from which to MUD, hack, and otherwise goof around.

The three IPCs I bought from my university when they decomissioned and auctioned them off. When I started as a CS student you had to be a senior or grad student to get an account on them and at the time they were the only UNIX machines on campus. Having twice hacked accounts for myself and twice had them deleted for running DikuMUD servers, I thought it would be nice to be root for a change.

64 bit since the current one I have now is a 64. I was just naming some diffrent processor cores that I knew the name of. I dont know what they do or what the differences are, all I know is that they exist.

Meh.

P4 (Northwood) running at 3 ghz.
1 gig Corsair XMS ram
Abit IC7 mobo (awesome)
Radeon 9500 Pro (sigh....it still performs decently)
Audigy 2 EX Platinum Pro
Dual 17" CRT's
800 gigs total hard drive space (ahh video editing)

I REALLY wish I could upgrade, but alas such is the life of a poor film school grad.

Death: I want to murder you and take your video card. Hell, you're whole system. Except for my hard drives. I like those.

Well, I guess 'liquid cooled' is more appropriate because its not water. It's some sort of alcohol coolant. That processor is overclocked 20% and does get fairly hot. The stock fan jsut wasn't cutting it. I wasn`t having any adverse effects but I didn`t want to risk my processor. Liquid processor coolers are fairly common. The Xbox360 will have a liquid cooling system
