Well, I wouldn't say that what I'm working on is... a gun. It's more a like a vehicle that has an intended use to rain nerf darts down on people.

That's right, I'm currently working on turning one of my old remote control planes into a flying nerfer machine. What I've done so far was I made a small box that fits right underneath the fusulage of the plane which you would stuff a bunch of darts or stefans into. I've ran with the plane in my hand and the darts in the box successfully fall out of it when I open the back of the box. All I need to do now is find a servo or a motor that will open and close the back of the box when I tell it to by the remote. I haven't actually taken the plane off the ground yet, but I will flight test it on my street the next time I can.

I know that this idea wouldn’t be very practical to do in a nerf war, but I think it’s cool. I'll try to see if I can find my camera and post them on here later.

Dude, that would be awesome. But make sure that it can drop other stuff too, not just nerf darts. I'm really not sure what else you could drop and keep it lightweight, maybe flour bombs or something.

Well he could drop water on people, that's always fun. Water might way it down too much though so that might be a bad idea, plus it probably does not have a water tight bottom. Maybe you could drop eggs.

But this this nerf, it needs to drop nerf stuff like foam. Maybe later I'll try to have it drop nerf grenades like Renegade's or something. I'll need to make sure that it can get off the ground okay with the box and then later, I might make some bombs for it eventually. The plane is actually designed to carry a small payload up up to 500 grams which is roughly 1 pound. So water would not work, though I like that idea of the powder bombs.

EDIT- Maybe that's what nerf grenades should explode out of, I don't know, it might be a bit dangerous.

Okay, just so you know, it's an interesting project. However, I just want everyone to be 100% certain that this is not something that would ever work in a war, and therefore should be seen as a just a crazy mod that's pretty cool. Reason it won't work in a nerf war...you have to reload and I'd just shoot the pilot...he's not going to be able to fight back, he'll be busy with his hands on the controls. He takes his hands off to fight, he wrecks his plane, and I know he doesn't want to do that. Another reason, not worth the risk. Those things don't come real cheap. Don't take the chance of wrecking the plane. Other then that, it's pretty cool.

Don't worry, I'm entirly aware of that, but the box it carries is very tiny so it'd only be able to hold up to about 20 nerf darts. And I'm also a great pilot with this plane so once I get it working, I'll just practice bombing targets. As of right now, I'll need to see if it flies ok which it should theorectiacally because it only has a tiny cardboard paper box. And if you dare shoot me, then I'll...!!

Excellant! I was wanting to do something with my old remote control car. But lack the intelligence and technology to do so. I think this idea would be awesome. There is this one kid in out neighborhood who is scared of my because of my Nerf guns. I actually went to an Airsoft (Spring) war, and brought a Nerf gun. And actually wasn't aloud to use it because I hurt this one kid. Pretty funny.

Well, I believe the only way to insert the darts is by putting them through the back of the box (facing the tail). I'd have to show you some pictures if I can get my camera working. The box, however is on the under belly of the plane. What I do is lift the plane up by the tail and stuff the darts in from where they'll come out when I drop them on people. As for the planes stability, it is a very stable because of its polyhedral wings (the wings curve upwards).

Yeah, just releasing a bunch of darts may not be too effective. Like I said, I'm gonna want to have to drop some other kinds of bomb things in the future. If you guys have any ideas for a making an effective type of bomb, go ahead and tell me. Otherwise, I'd probably go with Renegade's grenade later on.
