The firefly is definately not a pistol. It's huge. Nitefinders, Mavericks, and Tech Targets are all pistols that you can usually find at those stores. AT2k's are at Target, but some do not consider AT2k's pistols because of their excessive ranges.

I forget what thread it was, but I've seen that "personality compelled me" option in some other poll. Oh well, I scan the forums way too much anyway.

It's not a pistol - it's huge and has eight barrels.

yeah, I've never seen it compared to anything so I didn't know if it was a pistol or not (I'm going to get it in the next month, as early as next week as late as 4 weeks...) Yes, someone else said the personality thing and I thought it was cool, so I did it... :D

EDIT: oops spelled compared(again) wrong and deleated some smilies

Just a suggestion; try to avoid excessive use of those faces.

There are plenty of pictures of the Firefly out there, just try searching.

I would classify it as a rifle. From reviews thus far, I would have to says the Dart Tag guns are good, I know the AT2k's at Target are good, and the NF is always good.

Im buying a FF in like 2 days, i have looked at many pics of it and it seem way too big to be a pistol :D . BTW: I just modded a Nite Finder and a Mav.
Mav: Turned into a M4 like rifle
NF: Turned into a modern shotgun with a mini magazine.

How the crap did you turn a mav into an M4? An M4 is an assault rifle, the mav is a revolver. If you did, I'd like some pics, and if it's true, mad props. But I doubt it.

I may have been the one with the personality compelled me well not really but i hade a poll where one of the ansers was, I don't know but want to be an ass and post in this topic anyways. To answer your question unless you're literally a troll there is now way it is a pistol it is about the size of a N-strike hornet.

I just got to use a FF for the first time a few minutes ago (a friend picked it up) and I have to say while it looks nice and feels good in hand, I am rather disappointed with its performance. It (to me) felt like a Mav with an extra two rounds. Also, since i tend to really think about my aining, I find it a pain to compensate where I see my target and the fact that the dart hits several inches lower.

I perfer to think of the Firefly as a battle rifel than a pistol. If you think it is a pistol, than ya better get a firefly to see how big it is to a Mavrick.

Not my job but I'll do this anyway, dude, check the code of conduct and don't bring up old topics, this one is almost a month old. And yes the Firefly is much more like an assult rifle. Stylistically it looks a lot like a P90See these images for a P90 and here for the firefly

The P90 is an assult rifle with a similar grip to the firefly, no one argues that the P90 is pistol do they?

Actually a P90 is a sub-machine gun, it fires the same 5.7x28mm ammunition as the Five-seveN.

I would agree with euphemism on that one its a submachine gun let alone an assault rifle (quick fact its a bullpop). Heres what i think: I dont believe we cannot classify it as any fire arm in the real world. its just to toyish. There are other guns that have the same elements of real guns E.G the RF20 resembles the minnie gun High Rof multiple barrels.

Well, I think that our 'classification' is ROF. That's in my opinion the biggest quality a nerf gun has. Single-shot, semi-auto, full-auto or something like that. Though since I've started modding, bolt-action is also a pretty good term to use.

Quick Fact: If I remember correctly, the P90 and the Five-seveN have the same ammunition because they're munufactured by the same company, Fabrique Nationale. Which is why Five-seveN has the wierd capitolizations.

You are quite correct, Fabrique Nationale de Herstal makes both the P90 and the Five-seveN.

even more quick facts: FN also makes the FN2000 (the gun they used a different name for in splinter cell) and FN303, a less lethal launcher that is something like a paintball gun on steroids. One more, FN owns browning and winchester. When I say that I mean it in a literal and factual way not in a "OMG PWNZ0R3D" sense.

The blastfire and hornet (and sometimes RF20) are semi-auto, and the NF is single shot. Quite a difference.

semi auto meaning one pull of the trigger one shot would come out . I have the RF20 your right on that one, But I put my RF on auto all the time coz i have really good trigger control i can get 1 shot off with my rf on Auto. but enough of this technical gun stuf were still trying to determine the classification of the firefly.
I was wondering what is the Average range of the nerf pistols out there.

Every gun is just a big pistol in a big or small case. Because trucks are really non-fuel efficient smart cars the look different, handle differently and are better for carrying anything larger than a firefly.

according to dictionary.com

pistol

n : a firearm that is held and fired with one hand

If you naturally shoot a firefly with more than one hand itís not a pistol. It has a stock, pistols don't have stocks. Ninjz, I mean no disrespect but its not a pistol.

I'm refering to plunger tube size, but I thought that was a given, but I guess I need to go in more detail.

For springers, I go by plunger tube size. The FF has a small plunger, therefore it is a pistol in my eyes. Also, the case itself is too small for me ( I'm a grown adult ). Too small to use the stock but small enough I can use it with one hand. I do however still use both hands when firing one for stability and firing it quickly. Any blaster with a plunger tube the size of an EaB, BBB, Crossbow etc. is a rifle in my eyes. The MaxShot is a special case though since it gets rifle ranges in a relatively smaller plunger tube.

This obviously only applies to springers, pump blasters are an alltogether different story. Since the airtanks are usually the same size ( 5k,ss2 and Titan excluded since they have larger tanks ).

Personaly, I think that definition of pistol sucks. In NERF or real life, you can obviously fire a pistol with one hand, but who usualy does that? I almost always hold a pistol firmly with BOTH hands for added aim and accuracey. So that definition is a bad one in my opinion. Pistols not having stocks is dead wrong by the way. Many models have dechable/folding stocks, just look at the mauser for example.
