About two years ago, I purchased the Bandit Toy Crossbow.
http://www.backyarda...ery.com/barnet/ (to see a picture of it)
Some guy said that it could shoot Nerf Megas rather well. I tried it out, and it did, in fact, shoot Nerf Megas rather well. My question here is, would it be plausible to make a dart that is 3/4", and not 5/8". I ask this because although the crossbow fires Megas reasonably well, the actual barrel (or half barrel) is just a tad bit wider than 3/4". When I said Nerf Megas fire well earlier, I lied. I meant Nerf Mega Whistlers. Because the tip is much wider than an ordinary Nerf Mega, it is able to fit better into the crossbow than a standard Nerf Mega. I do know that there is foam backer rod available in 3/4" size, but I'm not sure if my local hardware store has 3/4". What would a plausible length for a 3/4" dart be? Perhaps 2.5"? 3"? And should I use 3/0 fishing weight?

I would say if people use 2" for megas, try that and 3" and see which works better and then narrow it down to the best length. As for the fishing weight. Yes, if the dart is bigger than a mega.

I would like to know that question. This is *not* the generic "How do you make a Stefan dart" question.
UPDATE-For those of you interested in making sefans, here's something I found on how to make them:
"First, you 'gotsta buy your self some caulking rod (5/8" for mega darts, and the smaller one for micros) and some 3/0 fishing weights(optional). Some people just put in 3 BBs. Cut the desired length (2" works well for megas). If you make 3" ones, it's much more important to straighten them. Use a hot glue gun to make a small hole in the top, and insert the weight. Cover this with hot glue, but not too much or you'll weigh the dart down. You can make holes in the back of the dart, this is a must if you will be firing from SM guns, because they shoot the air into the hole. Be sure to make the hole as even as possible, to make the darts fly straighter."

I did this when I was relatively new to Nerf. I only had 3/4 inch CPVC back thenYou could just use a Stefan mega and wrap it in tape. That would suck though.
Oh and SG Pilot, that was total Plagirism, unless you say where you got it. It does answer jackelelf's question, though.
