If you are using PVC with Micro Darts, that's your problem.

There's also the possibility that 6 inches is too long.

Or, check your air seal.

Some pictures would be helpful for solving your problem.

Did you use just a PVC barrel? I've tried that and it was bad news. I'm assuming this is 1/2" PVC. Try nesting a crayola inside a PVC barrel. It's a snug fit and it provides an even better air seal on the dart. With a little tinkering around, you can get the crayola to connect with the plungershaft quite easily. You will need very little hot glue when this is done. It's neat and effective. It always works for me. You will note 60-70' ranges on a good stefan and about 50-60' with a stock dart. When I get my digicam up, I'm going to provide a full write-up for this puppy, so keep an eye out for it.

Note: My barrel is about 4" long, 6" may be too much length.

As Davis said, what kind of darts are you using? Micro stefans, which almost all of us here at NH use, won't do anything much in 1/2" PVC, because it's too loose of a fit for the dart. Springers, like the NF, tend to work better with a tighter fit, like CPVC or 17/32" brass. I personally haven't gotten to get CPVC to do anything on my NF, but others like Starbuck work wonders with it. If you're using stock darts, the same applies, but they just won't go in when it gets to the rubber suction cup.

And to expand on what rings said, if you do put a crayola barrel on, you can stabilize it with a piece of PVC over it, so you don't have a flimsy barrel. This is very effective as a beginner mod, I did this on several guns before I got brass, but I'm running out of that.

Good luck anyways,

TS

Get some brass or, even better, some PETG (if you can find it).

P.S. 6 inches is way too long, use four at the most.

NO.. Do not listen to lukeinator. Get a material that will fit your darts. For al we know brass could be the worst fit ever fr your darts. My advice is take a dart along with you and test fit it in the barrel before buying it.

You either need a short, tight fitting barrel or a slightly longer barrel that fits tightly at the base and somewhat more loosely as the dart begins to travel. Anything other than one of these two options will give you horrible performance.

What you could do is nest it with several layers. Locate some brass with the sizes of 17/32", 9/16", and 19/32" OD, and nest them. For this type you can probably keep a 6 or even 7" barrel though I wouldn't recommend it that long. You'll need to cut a lip on the two smaller pieces of brass so that you can jam the dart down without damaging the dart. It's pretty effective.

Could I cut a couple inches of the barrel and put a carolya barrel in the orginal barrel and use the original as a nesting for the carolya?

I'm not totally sure what you mean, but if I understood it right, then sure you COULD if you wanted to, but it's counterproductive to what you wanted to achieve earlier. If you're real adamant about using a crayola barrel, just stick in 4 inches as if it were a brass mod.

Your crayola might not fit in the original barrel. It kinda defeats the purpose anyways. By nesting a crayola/brass in PVC, you make a better seal on the dart with the comfort of a slightly longer barrel. This results in improved range and accuracy. If you nest with the original barrel, you won't have the additional length of the PVC to guide your dart. To be quite honest, when I modded my NF, I also wanted to keep the original barrel. However I'm very glad I nested in the PVC. I guarantee you won't be disappointed with it.

By orignal barrel I meant the PVC ,not the barrel that came on the stock gun.If you want I can make a diagram of what I mean.
