As you all probably know, there are places where you play laser tag in these arenas and stuff. People do build arenas and buy laser tag equipment to start a buisness. It'd be very possible to build an arena for NERF wars. In order for there to be a score kept, people would wear vest just like in Dart Tag that detect how many times you've been hit. The arenas would be no different from a laser tag arena. This idea that got me was inspired by Phazerball <--LINK.
The link will prove how NERF arenas can be done.

I've played Phaserball, I loved it, it was great. I'm really not too sure if the whole Nerf arena idea would work though. People would probably see it as a kids game.

People would probably cheat and take the darts off the vest.

Well, I wouldn't use The Velcro Darts/Vest, just have a vest that registers the impact, i dunno how one would go about making such a vest or haw sensitive to make it, but it would be far more efficent, and would allow the common "use your opponent's ammo against them" thing.

Exactly. And the great part about a kind of nerf arena is that you could use a variety of unique guns and stuff. Like use a Super Maxx 300 or something and have your Lock 'n Load sidearm to back you up. Well, I'm not so sure about that, but perhaps the arena place would allow certain ones that can be used so that they're compatable with the refill stations you'd use. I'm sure they'd think of something.

But the chance of that happening ever...is some Obscenely-Huge Number to 1.

Maybe someone in the NIC who has unfathomably large sums of money could start one up.(Right...... and I Really run around with a Bag On my Head...)

It's quite simple. The process of starting a nerf arena is just like starting a laser tag or phazerball arena.

If laser tag places have a hard time making it, (which some do) a nerf place would be insanely hard to make sucsessful. It's possible, just unlikely.

Wow, that's pretty cool. You wouldn't have a hard time adapting that stuff to Nerf At all, but the likelyhood of it being successful would be low, but if anyone in The NIC tries to start a Phaserball place, it would make a great place for wars. Hummm...(Makes Mental note for semi-far-off future)

The idea is interesting. However, the person(s) funding this site would have to be willing to lose all the money that they put into this because it would most likely not succeed.
As large as our community is on the internet, we are too spread out to allow an arena like this to succeed.
They would need high traffic in order to survive, which we as a whole would not be able to give and most non-nerfers would rather play a faster paced paintball or lasertag rather than a slower more methodical single shot game like nerf. (Yes, I know nerf autos have 10-20 shots, but compared to the 100-200 rounds a pb gun holds or the inifinite number of shots a lasertag vest has, the masses would rather play those games)
So, as I said, it would be cool to have a purpose-built arena for nerfing, but the odds of it ever becoming feasible are slim to none.

If you want to make it make money you'd better include kids in the plan somewhere. In fact, I'd try to put one by a chuck e cheese's or McDonalds. Those vests that sense pressure could be manipulated by simply pressing on it with your hand. I'd just go low-tech and give kids, adults etc. a chance to have fun with nerf toys.

I'm thinking in the sense of setting up a place for "phaserball"/Arcade, but then set up to hold a decent size Nerf war there, say Once A Month at max?, also this is compleetly hypothetical, so don't expect it to suddenly shoot up on the forums in two weeks....but it would almost have to be set up in one of the Biggest centers of nerfing-dom so that narrows it down to NJ or SoCal...I doubt that it would ever happen at all, but it sure as hell would be cool.

I think after a while, and word got out, and it became mainstream, people would do it a lot and you could actually build a business around it. But getting it popular would be the hard part. I think people struggle with the word nerf, because they associate it with kids toys, but in reality, they really are just kids toys.

It could potentially become a big business, but you would have to choose a location thats convenient for a lot of nerfers, not just in the middle of nowhere. Otherwise, parks work just fine for me and my friends.

I've contacted my local Lazerstar in the past. They allow people to pay for a group to rent the entire building for use by themselves for an all-nighter party. I asked them if it would be okay if a group were to do this, and then bring some dart guns and use the arena, as long as we cleaned up all of our darts before we left.

They said yes.

One of these days, the Black Knights will probably host a war in our Lazerstar. One of these days.

It might have to be a very small-scale thing. I'm not sure. Depending on what the arena is looking like at the time (they move their obstacles every month or so) it may be a pistols-only get-together, or an all out thing. I'll get back to you on it eventually. Like, when I can spare an all-nighter...

instead of the vest regstering the hit the dart would. That would eliminate the ''use enemy ammo'' thing and it would be harder to cheat that way.

How does having the Dart eliminate Cheating? Then Whenever you shot and hit anything it would score. And Are you saying that the "using Enemy Ammo" Is Cheating? Why would you want to eliminate that? isn't that part of the point behing nerfing with standardized ammo? to use your opponet's darts against them?

Do you think I have more Statements put in the form of questions?

So basically, take a laser tag arena, replace the laser guns with nerf guns, and you're set :P

I'm sure that nerfing arenas would definatly be possible to do in any way.

Hey guys, I was doing a web search for Lazerstar because I work there (the one in Glendora, CA). You plan sounds pretty cool. I think it would be great to have you guys play a mission, nerf, lasers, whatever. My big question is; would you guys all come out to one place to do it? In most forums, people are pretty spread apart the country. Feel free to drop me a line at Tacoking62@aol.com. -Radar ;)

Sounds cool to me. I am a little confused though. I have been reading the posts and it would seem that you guys want to use the vests w/ your nerf stuff. Maybe I read it wrong, but the vests register IR beams and lasers, so that wouldn't work out so well. But I'll keep in touch. -Radar
