I've recently purchased a N-Strike Unity Power System and decided to take a look at the stuff inside the Scout IX-3. Once I got it opened it all came apart and I had to figure out how to put it all back together. Eventually I did, but what do you people do when you mod spring powered guns like the Scout? I'm new to this modding stuff. I'm not interested in replacing barrels with PVC or brass ones. I'm more concerned with the power out of the gun.

Good luck getting range out of that without a barrel replacement.

The Scout doesn't use a conventional plunger spring system, so it doesn't have the power of other springers like the NF. I don't think it has enough power to shoot Stefans at all well without a new barrel. A kid I used to be friends with has a Scout and he Dremeled out the back of the barrel and got rid of the restrictor and peg and got about 20' out of his, but that's horrible, so unless you're going to barrel mod it, don't waste your time.

You could replace the spring with a stronger one. That should add some range also.

Well, you can just dremmel out the Air restrictors, and strech the spring some. It may take a little fanageling to re-assemble, but it does improve range and let's it shoot stefans. That's about all I Did to mine.

Air restrictors? But it's a spring powered gun. I never understood how a new brass or PVC barrel would improve the range...

Just about Every Nerf Gun Has Air Restrictors these days. the're connected to the Pole that goes up the center of stock darts.

You don't plug them, you rip them out. You're thinking of the end of the pump in air guns that you plug up, restrictors are in the barrel. Yes, it will help any gun to take out the restrictors.

I peak into my Scout and I see at the bottum some disc with holes around it. Am I looking at it or am I not? And if I am, can I pull it out without damaging the gun? Sorry if I sound so newbish.

It's the thing below that you want to take out, just get a drill bit and send it up the rear of the barrel to destroy all that, you may need pliers to get the crap out once it's been ripped to shreds. http://nerfhaven.com...wtopic=2767&hl= The first picture shows what you want to do, props to ompa for the mod.

I'd like to remove just the air restrictor for now. I don't wanna risk replacing the barrel yet.

I just removed the air restrictor in one of the barrels of my TEK 6. Instead of the nice 20-25 foot range it one got, it now only gets like 7. The air restrictors channelled air into the darts, and without them hardly any pressure can build up in the dart. I tried stefans, which worked just as poorly, then I tried thicker ones to let the pressure build, and they didn't even leave the barrel. Some help please?

Yeah, just do the first step in ompa's mod and you'll be fine Pilot.
