Supplies:

Stock (or almost stock) SuperMaxx 5000, or any other variant

3/4" CPVC

9/16 Brass (I used rigid copper)

Hot glue

E - Tape

HackSaw

What to do:

First, get your CPVC and your Brass and cut 3 inches of CPVC and 3.5 to 4 inches of Brass. Stick the CPVC directly on the orange nozzle of the gun (do not glue it on). Insert the Brass into the CPVC, and hotglue it in.

Click on the thumbnail if it's too small to see a larger version.

Take it off after the hotglue dries and wrap E - Tape around where you glued it for extra support and to hide the fugly hot glue. Voila! Here is your shell. You can make more of these in order to speedload the gun.

Average Range (Level shot): 87.6 ft. With a Stock Dart.

The 5000 used to measure these ranges did not have any internal modification.

P.S. Copper tastes bad.

A longer barrel would do wonders for you, you'd get over 100'. Nice job anyways. As you said making a bunch for speedloading in a wat would be helpful.

I kinda like the gun how it is. I don't want the gun to overly hurt when it hits someone, and I'm usually pretty close to my target.

I'm going to range test with stefans real soon.

A gun that shoots 100' is pointless, you aren't going to shoot some one from that far. The dart takes to long to travel so any one could simply step to the side and dodge it in the few seconds it takes to reach you.

Good job Nerflad, you made a mod for the 5000 that keeps the gun still useful for wars.

I'm not saying that it would be better, I'm just saying that it's possible to get more range.

BUT longer barrels would mean that the shells are longer, and get in the way more. Besides, stefans go 3 times as fast and at least 10 ft. farther out of this gun. This is why I don't use stefans in wars. THEY HURT. I'm not saying I'm a wimp, but I play to have fun not to get a fucking welt that lasts a week. Besides shotgun stefans (which I do use because of their short range) I only use stefans to put holes and other markings on my cardboard standup of Angelina Jolie.

Now that that's out of my system, I'll have a better day.

A blaster than can fire a dart 100' with relatively respectable veloctiy, will fire a dart 30' with relatively astounding velocity.

That's why it's not pointless. You'll never fire at a target 100' away, but you'll never miss from 30' if you have the same potential velocity, and range.

I'm not trying to tell you that your wrong or anything its just that usually people try to get the moset ranges out or their blasters. I didn't usually shoot stefans our of my 5k. My friend was using it in an indoor war and wrecked my other friend in the eye from about ten feet away. If he had been using a stefan, he wouldn't have that eye today. Of course if he had listented to us when we told him to wear glasses, we wouldn't have had a problem.

That's why it's not pointless. You'll never fire at a target 100' away, but you'll never miss from 30' if you have the same potential velocity, and range.

Very true.

But in that case you can severly injure some one and most people try not to be an idiot and try to keep it safe and fun. In an actual war you aren't going to need that much power, it would be better to have a more efficient gun that will get moderate range and be easier to use. Having the gun shoot that far is pointless and will just cause extra injuries.

Yeah...but I agree that it would be more accurate.

But then, you should be accurate with any gun that you choose as your primary, considering that you should have practiced it. Then again, that's more Talio than nooblike, so it's really up to your preference.

The only Nerf blaster that I can see hurting someone with a glue tipped stefan from 30' away is the Titan; properly modified.

Other than that, you're in no danger of getting hurt by getting shot in the arms/legs/torso. Danger areas are eyes, which should always be protected during a Nerf war.

You get pegged in the neck? Suck it up, princess.

You get nailed in the forehead? Brush it off, missy.

If you've ever made someone cry, or scream in honest pain, I'd like to know who they are so I can laugh at them. For christ's sake, paintball doesn't hurt. If you're going to stand in the way of a projectile, get ready for impact.\

My point remains.

 My point in saying this is not to compare Nerf to paintball, but you know what? If you take off your mask or don't wear one to begin with in the middle of a paintball war, whether you're playing on a site or in your backyard, and you get hit in the eye that's your own damn fault.

You don't play with stefans? Then you're missing a large element of what makes war games fun : fear. I get hit with a regular microdart whoopdi-freakin-doo. Yeah, any kind of normal Nerf-like activity can be fun for a while but you add that fear of getting hit, that fear of getting welts from the sting of stefans, it adds another level of pressure.

We make sure we use goggles every time. Some of us are going to start wearing dust masks now too. Stefans are dangerous, so be smart and use precaution. I feel like a G.I.Joe ad, I thought people were smarter than this.

I agree with supernoob's point and have any of you ever seen someone take off their mask in a paintball war or just playing in their backyard? I used to paintball and im not completly sure, but isn't it illegal to paintball with out a mask? I mean thats some pretty scary stuff, even without a mask.

It's illegal to shoot at someone without a mask on (in paintball).
