Would the RTS be multiplayer?

If not, it kind of kills the point of an RTS.

I'm pretty sure you can do internet with Gamemaker with some work. :P

VGN, I'm pretty sure what I think of as "top-down" and you think of as "top-down" are completely different things. ;)

Tex, I kind of forgot about the first-person part of FPS, I was just thinking about shooting. So, I change my vote to real-time strategy or whatever it is. Good luck.

Don't expect anything soon - i'm on restricted computer privileges.
But in the next few months i should be releasing somthing.
It will most likely be RTS - side-scroll involves too much spriting.

Not in the game anymore, but it was great while it lasted. Thanks for the great years of fun, NH!

It does when you can use all the RPG and such wizards out there, Gamemaker is the VB of game making programs, apart from the fact that it is actually a VB program.

Mods are totally legal, so if you had the full game, you'd be fine.

Yeah, but the point is that no-one really does own the full game ;)

Um, what's a top-down shooter?

Think GTA1.

Best Ideas So Far:
Multiplayer RTS
MMOTDS (Massively Multiplayer Online Top Down Shooter) ;)
A HL Mod

Basically, if you can pull off any of the above, that would kickass.

For MMOTDS, think GTA2 (and such graphics like your last game), but everyone can play at once.

RTS will always be the best.

I would have to agree.

Even though I don't see this project going anywhere fast, I think that an army of "Rangers" equipped with SM5ks would be awesome.

Think of all of the parallels you could draw between it and StarCraft!

Firebats/RF20s, Ghosts/SM5ks, Marines/Sawtooths, Zealots/Dual Ln'Ls...

Sorry, I got a little too excited.

I actually made a SC map that had some stuff like that, its to bad though because my idiot brother reformatted both comps so it is now gone for good, well unless I feel like making another, but that probably won't happen.

In my honest opinion, a Nerf-based RTS (real time strategy) game would be best, followed by some sort of shooter.

When you come to think of it, Nerfing isn't just about your skills as an individual, but very often in team games, it tests your skills as a team, practicing teamwork and team maneuvers and strategies.

An RTS would show the qualities and advantages/disadvantages of each commonly-used Nerfing position, while allowing you to exercise strategies that are viable in-game, things that cannot be done in your standard shooter, and many of which cannot be done even in team-based shooters (Tom Clancy games, Rainbow Six comes to mind).

A Nerf-based Starcraft map wouldn't be too hard to make; I could probably make one in a day's worth of gaming/computer usage and have it up if anyone wishes to see one made.

What? I thought you died or fell off the face of the planet.

Sure an SC map is easy and I would gladly make another one, hell I would even remake my Boondock Saints one but the thing is I don't have the time any more. I work anywhere from 5 - 6 days a week and then I play poker and I have a girlfriend and friends. Maybe if I had the time I would make one but I don't have Broodwar, I did at some point but I don't have it anymore.

Tex, I can't seem to play the game. It claims it's loading, then does jack squat. I tried it on other comps at camp, and it worked there. Hmmm, does it only work on XP?? I run on Win2k.

Pray.

Just kidding. It probably will be, depending on tex's programming and networking skills. (No offense meant)

Most likely no, but my brother is making progress using multiplayer, so i may get him to help me. Gamemaker doesn't do networks very well.

In my oppinion, GameFactory blows GameMaker out of the water in terms of capability and user-friendliness.
