Does anyone have any experience with hose shutoff valves? I was looking for some way to connect a firing tank to an auxillary tank with something smaller than a ball valve and I ran across one of these in my garage. They can hold water pressure (obviously) but could they hold any decent PSI for nerfing, or leak like crazy? They come in plastic (which I doubt would work) and zinc.

Also, on a different note, would a silicone lubricant on the inside of PVC help reduce friction on a dart or would it coat too unevenly?

Well, uh, you see, they do stop the flow coming from a tap, am I correct? So yes, they must hold pressure.
Pressure coming from a water tap is alot, and yes they do work for Nerfing purposes. I tried it once. It would've worked right if I used super glue and a hose clamp instead of epoxy.... *mumble mumble* I got it up to 100 psi.

I'm suprised epoxy wouldn't hold. Did you screw them in to something? Also, can I assume you used one made of zinc?

A silicone lubricant would probably work well. Silicone lubricant is what they use in Airsoft. So yes it should work well. Nerfers like to use WD-40. I have tried WD-40 before it does help. It reduces friction which usually leads to a boost in range. I do it to most of my guns and it works well. I havn't tried silicone spray on nerf darts however. They are probably both just as good.

Ball valves are also prety good. but if you are wanting to use a CPVC barrel, let me suggest this. take a 1/2inch PVC ball valve and not a CPVC one. They do not turn hardly at all. Now I know you are thinking "then how doe sit shoot with a CPVC barrel?" Just take a 1/2inch CPVC coupelr and stick it in the valve. Trust me, it will fit perfectly. But of course you will have to Hot glue it in. Enjoy!
