So I'm using the following as a base for my mod:

http://www.geocities...maverick_1.html

And I've gotten good at taking it all apart...

I've tried this three times (same gun) and the results get worse and worse. I interpret the instructions as saying "remove the air restrictors" (3 prong dealies, springs, and discs are ALL omitted) and glue around the edges of the inner barrel, then reconstruct the entire clip and let it dry.

I did this the first time...carefully applying a good amount ofglue to prevent spillage; of the three darts that left the barrel, only one went further than 5 feet....stock performance beat it easily

2nd time. I applied far less glue (but enough to seemingly seal the inner barrels) and then reconstructed...this time, one shot left the clip, and it only went 10 feet or so.

3rd time. Applied a shizknight load of glue, not caring for clogging...just quickly so that I could get the cylinder set before the glue dried.

No darts came out this time....matter of fact, I could barely get most of them in due to clogging in the barrel

Between these tries, I removed the glue (lucky it peels off) and tried again.

Has anyone successfully done this? Should I still be using any part of the orange air restrictor pieces? Should I use more glue? Less? I'm glad I didnt throw any extra pieces away yet...I might have to go back to stock...

help?

To tell you the truth, i didnt glue anything on my maverick and it gets great performace. I just removed the air-ristrictors and drilled out some areas to inprove airflow.

How far are you pushing your darts down the barrel? I did a MAV mod right after A war I went to and it got about 15 with a dart in the end of the barrel. Then I stuck them on the tip almost and got about 40. 54 to be exact when angeled. The Mav jsut has good RoF. I suggest takign all your maverick clips, CPVC moding them and trying to be western revolving rifle mods on your Crossbow. I have a friend that lives pretty far away and no internet, and he has a good amount of nerf guns. Stock to be exact. So I modded his xbow for him and he was amazed. I showed him my plans to put a Maverick cylinder part in a Xbow when I ever get one and he tried it. He had great results. He cut away everything except the revolving part up to the end of the barrels and attacked the trigger part that turn the barrel to the trigger with a clothes hanger wire. He did ag reat job with it. I was there last night and I tried it out. It gets great range and the RoF is just like a mav.

He mutalated a mav to get a crossbow to have a foldout turret that rotates and is loaded fomr the back. I will post the mod up whenever I do it to a crossbow when I get one. Until then, anyone with a stock xbow minus the bow parts for sale can PM me.

And my two bits...

I think the mav is better stock, with the pegs removed so that it can shoot stefans. It is just so difficult to get a good plunger/turret seal, that it almost isn't worth it. I tried the cpvc mod, and my brother's stock shoots farther.

Anywho.

So....you drilled thru the middle of the orange discs and put those in, but left the 3 pronged cups a springs that correspond to each one out?

I guess I'm confused about which pieces the air restrictors actually are:

Each barrel has a disc with a guiding rd to hold the dart; Each disc also has a 3 pronged cup with a spring in it. Which pieces are to be left in? Which pieces are air restrictors?

Thanks!

That was why my friend was able to make the rear or the clip open so that you can load it from behind.

He made the hole on the plunger tube ebd just as big as the CPVC ID. He did this with the end of a totalled NF plunger part. 'Epoxied it on and saded the inside of the hole. Lined the MAV clip up and sanded the unnessesary "parts" or the shell part down and vuala! I am going to try this mod and try puting a loser barrel, maybe 10/16ths inch brass, as a fake barrel that will make it look good but give it a little more range. His has an effifient range of 70 feet. I can understand that with those little barrels and it isn't the most accurate mod for a Xbow. So an external barrel may be needed.

You guys still haven't helped him. What you wanna do is put back in the disks. Just make sure to drill them out and you'll be fine. last man alive, 10/16"(5/8)brass is probably too big,19/32 would work best with what you're trying to do pending on dart fit. However, what you're trying to do may not work as the turret doesn't always line up perfectly and the dart would hit the side of the barrel. It's worth a try but try it in a way thats reversible.

Yes, as flamebo said, take out the springs and three pronged pieces, then take the orange disks and drill them out (I used an exacto knife and it only took ten minutes anyway), then put the disks back in without anything else and reassemble it. I don't know why everyone tries to get rid of those and glue it, but that's a lot harder and as far as I can tell it gets about the same ranges.

flamebo, nerf monkey...you guys are awesome!

I'm gonna try that out once I get home and get rid of the glue in the barrels. What size drill bit should I use...or how large of a hole need I drill?

I've got a 1/8 bit and a 3/8 one....i think the 3/8 would be better (wider hole after all) but obviously, I'm no expert.

Thanks loads all!!

I use a dremel and a 1/4" bit for those usually, but I prefer an exacto knife. The 1/8" bit would work better as all you want to do is cut out the middle. Get a good grip on it though, it'll vibrate out of your hands.

Ahh..I need to get a dremel...as it is, I ended up using the knife (before I even saw this post)

After a few minute and a couple hand cramps, I completed the mod and am happy to say that this gun now shoots like a dream.

Thanks all!!

Hey, LMA, are you talking about putting the turret on the crossbow, or is this deal you're talking about for the mav? That sounds like it would be a great mod to write-up. Seventy feet does seem a little much though... at least implausible.

No it goes in the Xbow. I will sum up the mod.

He took a mav, cut the handle and everythign up to the button that releases the clip to reload it off while keepign the peice that spins the turret.

Then, he drimiled holes in the back of the turret where there were little tiny ones. The bit hie used is what we used to mod the turret. It is just a tad bit bigger than 1/2 inch CPVC OD. This alloyed a better flow of air and to place 1/2 inch O-rings in it for a good seal. We took Q-tips to apply epoxy for the o-rings to stay in the holes.

For a good seal, we of course did the normal barrel relocation, but instead of putting the actual barrel on it, he slaped the mav clip in front for the plunger tube. Then, he took the little bit of vinyl tubing on the plunger tube and glued it in place right behidn one of the o-rings.

As far as the chell geos, he drimiled it so that the clip falls out the side. He made the clip fall farther than normal though as many people like it. For the rotating part, he placed it in the shell with a screw through the side and connected the trigger with a peice of wire much like of which people use to clip mod the maverick. He got 70 feet angled. It is not that good of a mod without an external barrel if you ask me. I am really trying hard to find a stock Xbow. Too bad he only has one.

Any questions feel freeto ask me.

So I'm using the following as a base for my mod:

http://www.geocities...maverick_1.html

Wow, my mod has realy become the industry standard for the basic Mod Of the MAV, but honestly, no one seems to get the whole "Hot Glue To Replace The Circular air restiictors" part right the first time, If I WANTED another Mav, maybe I'd be able to help make this more clear. I think I'll go out on a limb and try to put up a slightly eaiser to understand version on here.

deth moad ue, I'm sorry That Your mav is being a pain in your ass, I've done the glue method AND the drilling method, and honestly it doesn't improve the range by much, It's more of a way to shoot stefans. Nobody's found a way to mod a mav that truly makes the mav all that great.

I am sorry but if that question was directed to me, then there are 2 meaning to move. Either you mean I found a friend when I moved that nerfs and he did a good itegration or how was the integration itself as I already explained was great. In the case of the first possition, I haven't moved yet so incloclusion, you lost my ass.

I think you were attempting Yoda talk. It didn't work.
