I guess I'll be the first to call BS. I'd love it if you prove me wrong, but I find it hard to reconcile all of the following:

You're in HS with no drivers license.

You lead a 35 man nerf (converted to airsoft mid-thread?) club which includes active duty Marines and Airforce (both plural) and college students.

You have constructed several FARs and improved on them in vague and unspecified ways.

You do not have access to a digicam to show us your FARs or your team.

You won't allow Talio to come nerf with you guys because your parents, unconcerned with you galavanting around with a bunch of off-duty marines, would freak if a sysadmin joined the party.

Well someone's been cizalled out bitches. How do you respond to these surpriseing accusations? Are you more hurt or more surprised? Boxers or briefs?! More taste or less filling!?!?!?! Answer my ridiculous questions!!!!!!!!!!!

CX just said everything I was thinking while reading this thread. It'd be great to be proved wrong, but it just seems that there's a lot of very, well, unbelievable statements. Especially the part about the FAR's.

As for milsim, I love it. However, it's always seemed that nerf is not really capable of it - the properties of the guns lend themselves to a more run-and-gun style of play. I'd love to work in a squad, yet I have the feeling that Bounding Overwatch wouldn't be nearly as effective with slow moving ammo that travels 100 feet at most.

Alright time do defend myself, first things first. I am in high school but I am only sixteen and in the loveley state of New York you need to be seventeen to have your license. There are four active duty military personell who are members of my Nerf Clan. Several members of my team, roughly 6 individuals, have built FAR's. I dont know why thats difficult to digest, we go to home depot, we get the parts, we build them. I didnt convert my Nerf clan to airsoft mid thread. I said I kow many of the guys I nerf with from airsoft and paintball or through school. My parents allow me to nerf with the Marines and AF guys because one is my cousin and the other are personal aqqauntinces of his who he feels are trustworthy. Where as talio is a member of a nerf fourm and I have no idea of his true identity. i would say my parents would be just slightly uncomfortable with the idea of me nerfing with him :D. If you guys want to call milsim BS thats your buisness but im not going to buy a digital camera for the sake of proving something on the internet. As far as gathering the personell for a 35 man clan all it takes is some phone calls and flyers. Then we talk to and meet interested locals and get to nerfin.

So you put out fliers for your war, but Talio isn't allowed to show up? You have a personal vendetta against him that makes you prefer random strangers?

Half a dozen guys in one neighborhood with both the skills and the interest to build a FAR?

You have no pictures of your 35 guys or any of their 6 FARs? None of them has a digicam?

More BS by the minute.

Surely, ONE of your clan members must have a digicam or even a cam they've used during your 35 man wars and surely someone in your clan has a scanner.
I mean come on man, if I had a 35 man clan with 6 FARS in it, I'd be doing everything in my power to be showing that shit off.

MFRnync; I propose the following solution to you and yourr nay sayers

You don't need a digital camera to get digital pictures. You can have a picture CD made when you get your film developed. The picture I posted here
was taken with a cheap disposable camera which I had a picture CD made with at Meijer's. I assume Wal-Mart or Walgreens could do the same thing. Down load the images to your computer, crop them to a decent size and up load the pictures to a free photo hosting site (I use photobucket.com). Bingo, you can post the pict to the forum and get people (site admins for example :D ) off your back.

There is no reason that putting some photos of your teams FAR's on the internet should be a problem, just take a disposable camera to your next game.

Wow, such a show of vigilantism, I'm impressed. To bad we don't call the other 20 guys daily on this board that slings bullshit like it's a childrens toy. I'm not defending this guy, because being as the FAR is one of the most complexed builds out there, I seriously doubted that point. I tried to be more subtle about it explaining my distaste for homemades....jerks.

For the most part, it's always hard to gauge a guy who does nerf milsim seriously. I mean those two words should never be seen in the same sentence. Nerf, other then a fact that it sends a projectile into a certain direction, has no similarity to actual combat. Hence the reason I was challanging the kid. The reason I want to Nerf against milsim guys is because I'm convinced anyone who does it is full of shit. I think trying to do it would last a total of 10 seconds. You'd have to really practice that stuff, and I'd figure I'd be serios for a few seconds of walking in a line or doing other movie military stuff and then do a Tuskin Raider call, storming through the woods.

I'm almost 22, take this game far too serious and would not be able to keep a straight face. Mainly because I'd be out there in camo holding a gun that was shooting foam and just start cracking up. It's a toy gun, it takes every once of strength in my body not to shoot my teammates for the sheer halarity it always causes, no matter how many times I've done it before. If I'm not mature enough for it, I don't see how you will possibly get 35 guys together, some of them being in the military and not it turn into a big goof fest. I have alot of military friends, I still go drinking with them and see them often. They barely take being in the real military seriously. Once you put them in a fun enviroment where they might have a few extra skills, for the most part, they just get goofy and spend most of the time laughing. The last thing they want to do is pretend to do their job.

Athough I have room to talk. I barely think about anything but boobs, computers and guns all day, on or off work. We try to keep the boobs to a minimum at work though.

Anyway, way to blow my subtle way of fucking with this guy....cock bites.

Talio.

Edit - Shotty, what the fuck was that? Are you clincally retarded?

Shotty what in gods name are you talking about?, I said I lived in New York in both of the cited posts. I dont have a venndeta against anyone and I think that is a propostorus thing to suggest. I incorporate milsim in to nerf because I enjoy it, nothing more nothing less. The flyers we posted were put up at a local airsoft store and we met people before nerfing with them at the as field. As i think Ive already said many of the nerfers we now have are friends of friends, thats how the number of players got so high. These were people whom I grew to trust over time. Not strangers that drove out for a day of plinking with dart blasters. If im not welcome here I will leave just say the word. Im not gonna try and prove stuff to you guys, if I can post pics in the future I will but it may not be soon or at all.Building the FAR was not as hard as you all assuume once the first one is built and you have printed out Bolt losers great set of plans, you can build one no problem. Half a dozen guys? Ask any serious airsoft player you know if they have any interest in building a nerf gun that loks like a fiream and the general concenus will be yes. I didnt come here to argue about how to properly nerf, and I dont appreciate the mind games. The bottom line is you guys are just going to have to accept some of the things I've said I can offer concrete proof, its not possible via the internet.

Just FYI,

I really don't care about proof, God knows I've posted enought stuff without any pictures, mostly because I don't have a camera myself. I was simply providing a method by wich you can put up pictures without ever touching a digital camera. Take your time, I think showing off those FARs would be pretty cool though.

As for the milsim thing, hey your out there nerfing, and with a good size crowd. Which is more than I can say for myself. So more power to ya.

Hey I'm new to the forums I'm a friend MFRnync, and a member of his team, I am the same age as him and we are currently taking driver's ed and will have our lisences in a couple months, but I doubt our parents wll allow us to travel out there and play we people we don't know, and as we have said everyone in our team is a friend or a friend of a friend, most of us play paintball and airsoft, as I have 2 paintball guns myself, but nerf is fun to relax with.

Hey I'm new to the forums I'm a friend MFRnync

/sigh/

Same IP.

Oh, wait, let me guess... you were hanging out at his house and thought that a different user name would lend credence to his claims?

Bullshit.

Proof is indeed possible via the internet. We suggested a way to demonstrate your awesome collection of six improved FARs that come together for weekly skirmishes. If you aren't interested in getting a picture of all that PVC goodness then you're not nearly geeky enough for nerf anyway.

PS: Talio, bite me. Subtle my ass. Until you admit that you were seducing this boy there's nothing more to say between us.

Sir I dunno what your problem with me is, but, I asked him to register while I was at his house so he could validate some of my claims for you guys. I dont know why your getting the same IP, IP= internet provider? How are you even aware of my IP? it may be becuase I discovered that i was being called out while I was hanging out at his house this afternoon and logged on so I could defend myself. Than being the friend that he is the specialist came to my defense. You seem to be the most adiment individual here about catching me in a lie so I would like to know why that is? I have no reason to lie to any of you, I don even know you. What possible motivation would I have for trying to impress you?
I felt quite welcomed here for a while and a few nay sayers have turned this thread sour, was it neccasery? I have nothing to prove to you people but to appease some of the souls that have choosen to not bielive me I will try and prove my words to you. I dont have pictures to post at the moment but if it is trully milsim pictures you guys require to validate my claims I will try and get some up asap.

Fuck you CX, I was not trying to seduce him! I'm not into that stuff.

....

If he were seduced he wouldn't fight...and it's always better when they fight! Come on dude, you know that!

So let me get this straight, he registered at his house? Did you first register at your house? Yes, we can see your IP and if you don't know what that is, look it up.

Really, before you pulled the double member thing you were still cool in my book. Alot of guys bullshit when they first show up and get called on it. It's really ok. But once you go so far as to creating a new account, it gets not only silly, but just a tad bit wierd.

If you want to hang out, your only chance of survival is admitting you were full of shit. Everyone here will appreciate it and probably laugh it off. You're not the first and will not be the last.

Wait what exactly is and ip, if by whether we use aol or optimum online, we both are hooked up through optimum online because everyone around here has cable internet and that is the only provider around here, and don't call us lyers, the only other thing I could try to prove to you is we are both members at the http://www.highvelocitypaintball.com/ forums, because that is one paintball field we play at, on there I am The Specialist just as here, and my friend is bigpballer, is you don't believe us just ask on there, there are people there that have met us

OH SNAP!!! That's complete bustage if I do say so myself. The idea of a bit of milsim tickles my fancy though. Still, MFRnync, I can hold nothing against you. Welcome to NH, and if you have made these homemades/mods as you say you have, I look forward to seeing your input. Perhaps a creative mod, or an original design will get you out of this situation. The digicam pics would help you too. If things get too heated here, I cordially invite you to join my site. However, if you are BS-ing, I wouldn't like it there either. I've got my eye out...

MFRnync, This forum (and most others) operate on two principles: proof and reputation. People are naturally doubtful of claims put in just words. Most people accompany a description with pictures. In fact most people enjoy posting pictures to show off their work or whatnot. The only way ou can get away with not posting pictures is if you have built a reputation so people have a reason to beleive what you say.

I hate to say it but no one is going to believe your impressive claims until you post some proof. Just the way it is.

Nevertheless, welcome to the boards

Talio, thje specialist is not me and I am not him. What I was saying is that while I was at the specialists house he created an account to try and help me prove the worth of some of my claims. We both have optimum online, but I dont know enough about computers to be sure what everyonse seems to be babbleing about realted to ip. No one has created two accounts though. Ill admit the milsim stuff is ofetn seen as over the top, but I dont think I presented it that way. I am most certainly not full of shit, I belong to several other fourms and I have to say this is certainly a hostile welcome. Im suprised you guys have so many members considering the way you treat each other, grow up. Plus Talio, you have the nerve to call me and my buddy wierd after talking about seducing young boys?
We all know your jokeing but frankly its getting odd so time to call it quits. Isnt it a little odd for a guy in his twentys to be argueing with a sixteen year old on a nerf fourm about the value of his claims? If you want to nerf more power to you, but get off my back. I am not the enemy gentelman, why are you all so intent on fighting with me?
I think where we may be misundestanding one another is in what you guys are interpreting milsim as. Its not as hardcore as reenacting, theres a steryotype that we are more in to realism than fun and thats not true at all. Its all about finding a balance and having a great time. Its not as if all 35 team members show up to every war, only at larger more planned scenarios do we see big numbers. Are scenarios are simple bomb defusal, hostage rescue, vip protection games that we try to make more true to real life. We do this by incorporating things like the vital organs rule to the game. This rule states that you need to be hit in the head, chest or stomach to be considered dead.
Do we like to wear camoflauge and combat boots, most certainly. Do we make our guys go through a nerf boot camp? hell no! All the milsim we do is in fun not like, dont you dare smile or ill pop you in the face with my bbb seriousness  . Alot of our guys paint their blasters camoflauge and black to help set the mood. The range issue is not as big as you might think. Most real world firefights take place at under 35 feet meaning that a modified nerf gun will give you the range neccasery to do great cqb enagements. Even the highest grade simunitions used to train special ops teams are only tactically accurate up to 25 feet.

...but I dont know enough about computers to be sure what everyonse seems to be babbleing about realted to ip.

...I am not the enemy gentelman, why are you all so intent on fighting with me?

...We do this by incorporating things like the vital organs rule to the game. This rule states that you need to be hit in the head, chest or stomach to be considered dead.

...Do we like to wear camoflauge and combat boots, most certainly.

Firstly, a definition: IP is an acronym standing for "Internet Protocol." Usually, when someone uses the acronym as the object of a possessive phrase-- ie, "your IP"-- they are referring to something known as an Internet Protocol Address. This IP Address is a unique quartet of numbers identifying each unique Network device across the entirety of the Internet-- computers, routers, Sony PSP's, and anything else that connects to the Internet. Therefore, if two different users connect to these boards from the same IP address, they did so using the same computer.

Now that you know a little about how the internet works, you should know that generally people on internet message boards ask for a little bit of backing in regards to over-the-top claims. The problem, you see, is that anyone can say anything they want on the Internet. I could claim to be Arnold Schwarzenegger, for example, or I could say that I have an IQ in excess of 200. However, these are unbelievable statements, and I would be expected to back such claims with proof or be called a liar. Similarly, a claim of a heretofore unknown thirty-five man clan which has constructed six copies of a difficult piece of hardware is an unbelievable statement. Not necessarily untrue, but very difficult to believe. I have been Nerfing for as long as you've been alive. I received my first Nerf Ball Blaster when they were released in 1989 and I haven't stopped since. My teammates, the Horsemen, and I are fervent evangelists to the cause of Nerf. If we meet someone we think might even be REMOTELY interested in our sport, we begin to proselytize and invite them to join us for a war. That being said, at our peak, we had maybe fifteen regulars coming to our local wars. So you can understand our derision at your claims.

We've experimented with Vitals rules before, but the problem therein is the same as with the rest of Nerf: it is an honor system. As such, you are relying on someone's agreement as to where the dart hit. Now, I can tell you from experience, there have been times when I've been hit by a dart that I neither saw nor felt. The only way I know that I was hit is that there is a dart lying by my feet that I did not fire. This alone is enough to cause arguments in some cases, but throw in locational targeting and you are just ASKING for problems. It can be fun, sure. But it can just as easily be a huge detractor.

"Wearing camoflauge" is not synonomous with a military simulation. Lots of us dig Camo. While it doesn't serve too much of a practical purpose in ultra-CQC Nerf battles, camo still has a large coolness factor. Basic tactical maneuvering and command is also not enough to be considered "milsim," in my opinion. That's just a part of teamwork. Nerf cannot be an accurate milsim by its very nature. When was the last time you saw a modern soldier run to pick up an expended bullet so that he can shoot it back at you? When was the last time you heard of a gunman blocking bullets out of mid-air with a wrist-mounted shield only slightly larger than a dinner plate? Sure, it's simple enough to ignore or rule-out these things for the purpose of milsim, but then you lose the essence of Nerf. And in such a case, why Nerf at all?

death, Ive heard of your clan, you guys have been around for quite some time correct? I remember some time ago ther was a website in existence that had semi fictional nerf war stories and the title conatined the word horseman, is that you guys? I have all the respect in the world for those who just want to go on nerfing in the traditional sense but its not my style. If I choose to incorporate tactics complex or not in to my nerf play, thats my buisness. I understand what your saying about claims and as Ive already said pictures will probably be coming soon. Ive already adressed why it is our clan has grown so large in nature and really nerf is a sideline activity for most of us. Because many of our members are also involved in airsoft or paintball, as well as work and school. Milsim is more a mindset than anything else, thats something Ive learned over the years and you can make it work for nerf, airsoft, paintball or lasertag. The vitals rule can sometimes come with cheating and when that occurs we pull the individual aside and have them discuss the issue witht he person who complained.
