This appears to be legit. There are a few articles with coorporate folks discussing the reasoning and implications for doing this. Anyway, I signed up with two of my non mainstream email adresses just in case. I guess we`ll see what happens in two weeks.

Interesting concept. Illegal versions of AutoCAD are never all that cool.

Thanks bolt. Not that I draw that many designs, but I've got a few and I just learned how to use AutoCAD about six months ago. Thanks again; I'll check that out.

Investigate FreeCAD. It appears to have most of the bells and whistles required for most CAD style programs. Unfortunately I uninstalled it as I have no real use for that design medium.

Most inteneded-to-be-free CAD packages are very limited in their capabilities. X-CAD is supposedly a fully capable CAD/CAE package comperable to SolidWorks, Inverntor, Unigraphics, etc. Apparently they are a new company and want to get their name and product out into the field to get a repuatation built.
I guess we`ll find out on Aug 1st.
