Ok most of this has been done before, in fact some might say I copied The_blue. But in fact I didn't, it was just two minds who conjured up the same idea. Mines been done for awhile I've just been too lazy to the the write up. Anyways on with the mod. My goal was to increase the NF's already impressive range for a stock blaster and make it more accurate. I also overhauled it a little for integration purposes and what not.
Tools needed for this mod
1.Hot glue gun with sticks
2. .5 inches of 1/2 inch sch40 PVC
3. 3.5 inches of sch40 cpvc
4. Hacksaw/ PVC cutting shears
5. Dremel/ drill with appropriate bit.
6. Screwdriver
7. File/Dremel
8. Butane torch lighter, optional.
Open the gun up, there are two larger screws then all the rest that screw at the bottom where the ammo holders are. This part is optional, take out all the light junk. There are two screws that hold the light in and one near the trigger that holds the wiring in. Pry the metal batter things out with a flathead or yank them out with some plyers.
Now unscrew the plunger tube and get that thing outta there. Unscrew the screws circled in the pic.
There is the whole plunger assembly. There are two screws that hold that in, make sure to set those aside from the others. Keep peices 3,6, and 7 and throw all the others away or save them if you have a use for them.
Theres peice 3 with the peg gone, sorry if the pics are a little bad.
Theres peice 6 that connects into the plunger tube(peice 7 in pic), I used a butane torch lighter to burn it out. You can use whatever method is nessecary just make sure the peice still fits in the plunger tube.
Theres my barrel, it's 3.5 inches of cpvc in .5 inches of PVC. You'll have to sand out the PVC a bit to get it to fit. I shoved the cpvc about half way in it. Also you might need to sand down the small portruding center on peice 3 to get the pvc to fit over it like so in the next picture.
Theres the barrel hotglued on to peice 3. Make sure its nice and straight and that no air will escape. I then proceeded to glue peices 3 and 6 together.
There's the barrel glued onto the plunger tube, just put some glue around peice 6 and put it properly back into the plunger. Wrap some e-tape around it too so that you dont blow your barrel off.
There you can see both halves of the casing, I cut away the silver top that held the stock barrel in place. Also you'll need to sand out the insides of both casing to get the plungertube to fit back in with the PVC on it. Just sand with a dremel or drill till it fits in there pretty good.
Put the plunger tube all back in like you found it and reassemble your weapon. It should look something like what is pictured above.
Results/Testing
Overall I was happy with my NF. I don't war but I like to show friends nerf is more than they think. And if they think that hurts, then wait till they feel my 2k. For 6 bucks you should really pick one of these up. They make an awesome edition to any aresenal/collection. I constantly get 60' with mine. Thats with no bands, bands might push it 70' or so and give it some more velocity. Sorry about the crudeness and hugeness of the pics, it's late night I'm tired and don't feel like doing much. I'll get around to editing it up a little bit to it's a wee bit more comprehensive.
