I just got a maverick, and it's awesome. I don't know what people are talking about, it goes farther than my stock nite finder by at least a few feet. Anyway, I was wondering if there were any mods to do besides removing the air restrictors and making the barrel swing out farther. I was thinking about dremeling the insides of each barrel and fitting cpvc into them - is this even possible, and would it be effective? Thanks for your time

Yeah, generally they would be talking about a modded NF, because it's really easy to mod, so when talking about a NF, keep that in mind.

Think about it for a second. No, seriously, think about it. You'd have to cut off the case where the turret ends to fit on the cpvc, because it would stick out. That, in turn, would take out one of the sides of the rotator, rendering it useless, because there's no way you could have those barrels and the rotation mechanism in there as well. Nice idea, but it probably won't happen because of the turret.

Well what if he cut off the barrels before so they were flush with the turret. Wouldn't get the best ranges but he could fire micro stefans and still get better range than he is now. I was thinking about cpvc as well but I'm not so sure about dremeling it all out yet because I don't know how stable it will be.

Frankly trying to do that much to the mav barrels would just be a pain in the ass to do and you would be puting alot at risk. if you remove the parts that make up the barrels there isn't much left.

one of my clan members tried that and failed miserablely (loosing the use of the bulk of his mav, which lead to me developing a single-barrel mod), and I'm sure he's not the only one.

I believe Exterminator* pulled this off pre-NHQ-hack. Maybe it's even here at the Haven.

Edit: Name fixed. I hope.

It's been done, although the 60' ranges (I believe he had) were somewhat hard to believe, so I don't think there are any accepted ranges for the mod yet.

Do you think that you could fit brass/PETG in there the same way and get similar results? I still have to find cpvc somewhere...

Depends, brass has a smaller OD so you would need some e-tape or you would need to dremel less. If you used PETG then it all depends on the OD. If its smaller than cpvc then dremel less, if its larger then dremel more.

Well folks, I did the CPVC barrel replacement for the mav, following Exterminator's directions exactly. I shot some micro stefans, and the results sucked. Literally, the darts didn't even make it out of the barrels the whole way (it would come partially out, then jam the revolver).

Right now, I'm thinking that the CPVC is too tight for the mav. It puts out such little air, that perhaps the usual benefits of a tight barrel are killed by friction. Before this, I also tried just drilling out the restrictors, and found that the range was less than my brother's stock mav.

This gun... so cool... yet blows. Anybody have some suggestions? I'm not going to post any pics, simply because mine looks exactly like on the mod right now.

Try streching your darts, cpvc is most definatly to tight for you if it won't shoot that well, also reglue the barrels to the back of the turret, it might have broken the seals somewhere.

And as everyone knows, money makes the world go round. It's also the root of all evil, therefore the world going round is evil, and we should stop the rotation of the planet.

you could possibly attempt to use crayolas as your replacement barrels? i've found that they produce a decent shot even from a gun that is of the suck. my singled Mav uses a crayola and it's not that bad, infact it gets purdy darn good range. Posted Image

Thanks, I'm going to try sanding down the cpvc to provide a more loose fit... and that single barrel mav... whoa!

I'll let you know how it goes, which probably won't be till tomorrow morning. Thanks!

What size brass are you using? If it's too loose, it may not fire at all. Also, try hollowing out the little nozzle thing, then shoving the brass all the way down that tube. Make it so the dart goes all the way back to the end of the plunger tube.

Thanks ompa i will try that right now

Edit*- I* got the brass to fit but when I fire the dart only comes out most of the way. I dont understand what the problem is. I am going to hot glue the barrel into place. i am using K & S brass 1/2".

Got the bad spelling.

1/2? Is that really, really, really tight on your darts? I mean, I have skinny darts and I wouldn't think of using anything tighter than 17/32. If your darts are abnormally hard to push into the barrel, like you need to exert a considerable amount of force, chances are your barrel is way too tight.

Acctuly the brass I am using is on my crossbow to and when i stick a stefan i can get over a 100 practily with a 6" barrel. But when I fire with stock darts the darts only go about 50-60".

So I dont think the brass is to tight.

Edit- The darts a pretty easy to push in.
