Other than that, I'd go with a Nite Finder simply because they are everywhere and easily modded.

Do you need this for anytime, anywhere action? If so I'd definitely go with the nite finder because, in the short term, you won't get any ill effects from leaving it cocked for hours on end. If you leave the SF primed and in your backpack/pocket, it will very slowly leak air. Dual modded Nite Finders is a formidable arsenal, even against much larger guns.
If what you're looking for is more of a super-accurate gun for sneaking up on people and taking them out quickly, I'd go with the AirTech 2000 which is available in 2-packs at Target and is easily modded into one of the most accurate nerf guns around.
Have fun!

Actualy, most people who have both like the Nitefinders performance more than the Lock 'n Load. But they also usualy say the Lnl has a nicer "Melt in your hand" feeling. I would get a Nitefiner for a side arm.If you have the money you could go with a Lnl but I think a Nitefinder would be your best bet.

If that doesn't get your goat, do what everyone else has said so far. Nite Finder. You will find it anywhere, they're cheap, and they can be modded several ways.
My original impression was the same as Starbuck's, an SF.

In all seriousness, though.
I vote Tech Target or Nite Finder. Your friend might not count the AT2k as a "pistol" just because well....'tis a bit more powerful.

People tend to avoid it because it costs more than a Nitefinder because you get the Target with it. I'm saving up some cash to get myself one, to compare it against my NF.

If you want to fit in your backpack, then at2k. Well, actually with the at2k you'll have to pump it so that's going to cost you.
Another pistol that no one mentioned is the maverick.

On the TTG vs. NF idea, I'd prefer the NF. This is only cost-based though. If the TTG came without the target, I would have bought one.

Well, I have both the tech target and the Nite Finder, and personally I like the NF better. Makes a lot less noise(the TTG makes this huge clang! every time you fire it), it seems to get a bit better range(slightly), and it's easier to aim.Tech Target is approximately Nite Finder size and gets about the same ranges, depending on your mod and your darts.
People tend to avoid it because it costs more than a Nitefinder because you get the Target with it. I'm saving up some cash to get myself one, to compare it against my NF.

Thats a pretty good idea.I think you should get a NF and then PPK mod it so it is a lot smaller and more convienant for your purposes.

Ya know, the Tech Target Gun (TTG) is a bit bigger than a Nite Finder in the way of overall dimension (L x H), but it has a pretty thin profile, and the Nite Finder, with it's 'laser sight', has these two tabs to adjust the red light that snag on pockets pretty easily. While this can be remedied by whacking off the tabs, you may eliminate the ability to adjust the light, or if it breaks, you'd lose the light altogether. How's the Tech Target pistol. It looks small enough to fit in your pocket. I sort of want something I can carry around...
The TTG is also easy as pie to modify for increased range...Starbuck detailed a mod that many of us have done, using a simple piece of CPVC tubing, and using homemade micro stefan ammo, and it gets incredible ranges...50 feet easy without banding, even more if you add bands.
If you're going to extensively modify, and hack 'n' slash 'n' glue, the guys' recommendation of the NiteFinder PPK-style mod would be a great choice; you'd lose the light and reduce some size...but it's been my thought process that 'extensively modified' also means 'quite breakable under certain conditions'...like pockets...so that's something to consider also.
I'm going to assume you're in college, playing assassins. I'd recommend keeping the blasters the color they are, all bright and toy-like. No sense getting security all worked up with authentic colored 'guns' (like so many here on the Nerf boards seem to desire).
Have fun 'taking your friends out'!

Well, how did you mod both of the guns? I've found that in your posts you usually don't give enough info for people to really understand/care about what you're saying. I honestly haven't CPVC'd my TTG, but with my PETG'd NF i get around 50', so i think that they have about equal power. Going back to what madman said about noise, I think you could just stuff some foam/pipe insulator in the gun and it will absorb some of the big Clang! noises.I might be wrong but my modded night fire shoots farther than my modded tech target but I don't know I got my tech target out from under a friends porch where it had been under there for years. Also my nf is wicked light just get rid of the light and the batteries but both are fine.
