While fooling around with a slightly messed up AT2k today, I decided to expand the small airtank of the AT2k. First I washed all the goo out of the liquitron, poked a hole in the rubber seal, and cut about a 1/4'' section of the good tank. I then proceeded to take a water bottle and make a hole in it's cap large enough to fit over the very bottom of the goo tank. I applied a generous amount of hot glue around the tank and cap and cut up my case to fit everything in. The results with stock micros were as follows:

Range: 3 70' shots, 2 30' shots
Pumps: 60 for a full tank

Well, not too great. 60 pumps for 5 shots isn't the best in the world, but at least it's a kinda semi-automatic AT2k. I think I also have a small air leak which may be giving me mediocre results. I wouldn't really reccomend doing this, but oh well.

BTW: This gun is a Crayola/PVC breech. PVC is 7.5'' long.

Edit: Just checked, and I have no airleak.

Edit2: I lied. I did have an airleak, but I think I fixed it.

I don't understand. How is it semi-automatic?

I am guessing that there is so much air in the bottle tank that if you pull the trigger fast enough, only a bit of the air comes out, allowing you to shoot again.

Hmm...Well...Not necessairly semi-automatic. You can just get off more than one shot before you need to pump it up again. So..it's pump, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire. Understand?

Edit: ssgtsiler beat me to it.

Oh. Well I guess so. Why don't you just make like a 18" barrel and hold the trigger down? Maybe with some nice stefans you can hit 150-160'.

I could try to do the long barrel thing. Maybe it will work.
Edit: It didn't work. It dropped the Micro's range to about 50 ft.

This is no different from what THIRST, et al. were doing in the massive thread with the mutant at2k/PC parts. Essentially there isn't fast enough airflow from the water bottle to the main tank for it to be of much help in making a single shot more powerful but that slow airflow works to your advantage in that it allows you the 'semi-auto' action.

Blocking the airflow between the bottle and the main tank even more significantly will give you more shots per tank.

Will someone help me out? I tried doing this mod, and when i tried to pump it up, the air came out of the pump handle? Is this the "check valve" or something being screwed up?

That happened to me with my super soaker. If I figure out with my super soaker it might be the same as the at2k. I'll tell you if nobody else does.

You should use one of those 1/2 pint bottles and block the air more like cx said. You would probably be able to empty the four barrel turret without re-pumping if you did that, but you might get low ranges like 40-60.' But low ranges and a high amount of pumping are what make this gun fair in a war.

I think lately people have been over modding solid guns. AT2k is a performer, all the way around. Does it not make more sence to try and bastardize a crap gun to make it better then just mutating an already useful gun? I give people credit for coming up with idea's, but it seems to me that many of the ideas are bad. We'll always get them, you'll always have ten bad ideas for one good one, but I think we should pour our energy into tough projects like the scout, Mav, titan or hornet. Those guns really need some development.

Good job making it work though, you never know when it might become useful.

Talio, if it had been working properly, by all means, i would never have tried this. My At2k was, and still is, seriously fucked up. I was just fooling around with it, hoping it would work, but not meaning to actually use it, kinda like collectors coins... in a way... except not.

Anyway, i've been thinking up ideas for a replacable airtank mod to an at2k, or possibly a 3k. My dad and i were talking about trying to get some of his old tanks together, these are small tanks, probably a 5 atmosphere limit, and trying to make removable airtanks. The idea is to expand on Robo7fish's idea of the semi-auto, except that i'd have multiple tanks for quick switching. This is still in the main idea "phase", if you can even really call it that. More like a "Hmm... maybe that'll work" phase. Comments/Criticism would be great.

Note - I didn't start a new topic because i don't think it deserved it, for all i was doing was expanding on Robo's idea.
