So I got this crazy idea the other day to use the rotating chamber from the maveric to make a nerf version of the gun Vash uses from the anime Trigun. So far, I've got the blueprint drawn up, where it shows how the thing's supposed to work. I'lll post an image up when I get the chance to rasterize the cad file at work tomorrow. Problem is, this gun is HUGE. Vash's gun is supposed to be about 14" long by seven inches tall. in order to accomodate a Maveric barrel, it'll be 17" long from barrel to handle by eight and a half inches tall from handle to sight rail. The slide cocking mechanism has been reworked into a thumb cocking mechanism. The barrel breaks open at the breech just like in the show, there's a tab on the plunger that connects to the thumb switch when it locks shut. My main problem is that I have to scratch build about seventy percent of the gun. Does anyone have any ideas on how to create the casing?

Any idea on how to cast resin, or create a mold for it for that matter? If I can't get ahold of supplies to do that, I was just going to buy some 1/16" syrene plastic sheeting and cut it to shape, then double layer it, adding epoxy to the insides to reinforce it. I'm supposed to have this done by this saturday, so I'll keep this thing updated untill then.

Ok, so the maveric cylinder was too long to fit. Instead I used a revolving chamber from a cheap knockoff of a Tek-6 I found at Big Lots, which is fortunate because the spring and the compression cylinder from that work as well, sparing me from having to waste it. Flipped it around, drilled out the pins from the back (the front now) then inserted pvc tubing to make it the right length to fit the plans. The casing is made out of dremmel carved centra board. So far, the front part of the gun is complete. The plunger was a pain to get to work right, since it had the cocking mechanism built in to it and has a slight rise in it to clear the cylinder, but with enough railing added in, it works. Tonight I'll finish up the trigger and hammer.

I suppose this would be considered a HEAVILY modified Tek-6 now that the maveric idea was tossed to the side, but it's still coming allong smoothly. Hopefully by this weekend, I'll have Vash's gun to go allong with my fully-functional Wolfwood Cross ;)

Is this gun just for looks, or do you intend for it to be functional? I've been modding a Tek 6 and it seems like it has potential, but I don't think it'll have the best performance.

I intend it to be functional. I know a Tek-6 doesn't have the best range, but it's something I can tweak later. Plus the internals from the Maveric were just too large and don't have much better performance. For now, I just want it to work and get at least 20'. It's mainly for show. However, the Punisher II (giant cross) has outstanding performance, considering where I pulled it's innards from (a blast bazooka and a RF20), plus the dollar store guns I found to store in the side sections get pretty decent ranges themselves.
