I was looking at overstock.com today. I saw they had somthing called a MegaZooka it seemed like it coul be a very good nerf gun if done right because it says "a single blast of air travels clear across the room". It must be pretty concentrated it do that. Seems like it has a good capability of doing well with a brass barrel and a couple of micro stefans. Has anybody tried this yet?

If it were possible, it would be sweet. The problem is trying to fix a barrel into the thing. The exit point for air is about 6 inches in diameter. I'm not saying it can't be done, but that is a huge obstacle. Even then, the barrel fixture would have to be very stable, since these pack quite a punch. I've seen these things all over the place, and they're really fun. Never really thought about making a gun out of them...interesting idea...

Couldent you just put a big peice of pvc in it than put a smaller size in that and then just keep doing that till you can put your brass in would that work.

Yeah, I've got one of those. It is pretty cool and has a huge air output. I don't think that it would be possible to make it ito a nerf gun or at least it'd be hard. The wat it works it that the back is a thin plastic sheet like the material tarps are made of and you pull it back. There are two elastic bands attached to the plastic sheet and to the front of the gun. When you let go of the plastic sheet, then it is pulled forward by the elastic. The problem would be that you would have to pull the plastic back, and while holding it in place, load the dart, which would be very hard. I'm not saying that it can't be done. but I don't think it's worth time. Besides, the jarring motion of the plastic moving forward would throw off you aim, smilarly to the BnA.

EDIT: Oh, my bad. I did not notice. I have a slightly different version of this. It only has one handel and no trigger like this one. With the addittion of the trigger, this could and prabaly would work. Someone go ahead and give it a shot.

Duce, I've seen your version before and I don't see why you would have to hold the elastic thing back while you load the dart.

Wait, what does this thing exactly do? Does it just shoot air?

Yes.

Possibly, and that's the one Duce and I were referring to.

Yes its made by the same company, I too awhile back had intentions for a mod. Buts its not possible. It may shoot a ball of air that far, but its not very concentrated to shoot a dart very far. I really don't think it could work. Although there are two other options you can take. Make a bungee ball blaster like so. Attach a small basket for a nerf ball to sit in, and place it on the inside wee the elastic wrap comes to the pull back handle. Pull back and release and hope it goes somewhere. Other option is something like a bungee plunger idea. Attach a stick or something with some carboard on the end and slide it through some PVC. Place a dart in there and pull back. Hopefully that goes somwhere too.

Ya I seriosuly doubt anyone could make a gun out of this, and if they could I think it would majorliy suck and not shoot very far.

My friend has it. The thing is incredibly fun, but there is no way possible to turn it into a nerf gun. It simply won't work. Not to mention, it's actual size is friggin MASSIVE. Seriously, it's like 1/4 the size of an RF20.

methinks this has serious potential. If you put a Nerf ball into it, it is like a regular bazooka

I'm telling you, I've seen it up close. It just won't work as such. Not to mention, who seriously fires nerf balls.

Its not what you think, its all about physics and whether a ball of air has enough power to eject a dart or ball our of a barrel.

My take on this is the same as OMC's. Even if you did make a barrel by fitting different sizes of PVC into each other, the barrel would be huge. Total size would be around 4' long! Not to mention that the thing would be very flimsy. I don't know about you, but I don't really feel like carrying a Howitzer into a war. I like to be mobile and stealthy. Whatever floats your boat... :P

Well, if you wanted to do this and avoid making a 4' barrel, you could use a 2 liter soda bottle top... if you were to cut off the top of it, I think the circumference of a 2 liter bottle is about 5 inches, so you would only have to worry about the last inch... also 3 liter bottle are even bigger, so you may be able to use one of those to funnel the size down to about the size of a Nerf barrel.

Has anyone just tried capping one off and drilling a hole in the cap and then attaching a barrel?

The air output is massive and if you beefed up the bungees then there'd probably be enough compression to really blast a dart a good distance. The only problem is see is actually getting the system stable enough to fire reliably.

Ash, why use a 2 liter bottle as a funnel when we already have perfectly good funnels. Just buy a bigger one, I'm sure they sell big ones, stick it on and then stick a barrel on. That would be nice, if it worked.

I have this too, it's fun shooting vortexes of invisible air at your friends papers or hair to see it go flying. But, it's just powered by a single bungee cord. Not very much pressure, besides it would all get compressed inside the large vortex tubes and not push a dart out of a barrel. If it did, it wouldn't work good enough to make it a worthwhile substitute for the original intentions of the device.

Uhm.... because I have a bunch of soda bottles in the kitchen in a recycle bin and I plan on simply throwing them out. Plus, the opening in the top of the bottle is very close to a Nerf barrel. Also, the top of a soda barrel is more of a bell shape rather than a cone shape, thus making it a better fit.

Why go out and buy a big funnel (or find one for that matter) when you can just use the top of a soda bottle?
