Ahh yes I agree. Halo 3 is (for now and other then the specs of the machine itself) sole reason I want the new xbox.I long for Halo 3... sooo freakin badly.

Xbox 360 likely specs:
CPU : 3 IBM multithreading 3.2 GHz cores operating in parallel with 1Mb cache
MCPX: ATI operating at 500 MHz with 10Mb DRAM dedicated
System Memory: 512 Mb DDR3 RAM running at 700 MHz
Pixel Fill rate 16 billion/s
HDD: 20Gb Removable
Probable WiFI compatibility
4 wireless controller ports
Dual layer DVD-ROM
For comparison here are the specs od the current Xbox:
CPU: Intel 733 MHz
MCPX: nVidia operating at 250 MHz
System Memory: 64 Mb running at 200 MHz
Pixel Fill rate 4 billion/s
HDD: 8 Gb
Those are some damn impressive specs!!!

Since we're spectulating, I'll point out that most of the rumors make this a 40GB optional accessory. I think it's bullshit if the xbox 360 doesn't ship with a HDD in its base configuration.HDD: 20Gb Removable
Too bad this is (probably) not going to include HD-DVD. I'd buy it just for that.
I'm about to slap a Shuttle system with an Athlon 3.0+, 1GB of RAM, 200GB HDD, and RF keyboard and mouse in my entertainment center. I'll be able to play (generally superior) PC games at 1280x720/720p, web surf, play mp3z, do timeshifting, plus have the ability to play Windows Media High Def Video right now. Total cost ~$450.

the latest talk I`ve heard about it suggests a 20GB HDD. When you think about the intended purpose of the HDD....store savegames, downloadable content, and system files....it really doesn`t need a massive drive.Since we're spectulating, I'll point out that most of the rumors make this a 40GB optional accessory. I think it's bullshit if the xbox 360 doesn't ship with a HDD in its base configuration.

Apparently the "standard" package will include the HDD stock, but there may be a "lite" version that doesn`t come with it. It can be purchased later and easily installed.
Since the PS3 is expected to use the Blu-Ray DVD format I was hoping/figuring that the Xbox360 would use HD-DVD. I guess they must assume that no game will exceed 9 gigs in size. Typical Xbox games are around 2-3 gigs with some in the high 4 range. The current Xbox has a DVD-9 drive capable of reading dual layer discs so they must have anticipated Xbox games on supassing 5 gigs in size. As far as I know, no current Xbox game is on a dual layer disc.

To sum up the important stuff regarding XBL:
There will be two versions of Xbox Live. Silver is free (everyone gets it), and Gold is a paid subscription, like the current XBL. It looks like Xbox Live will be free on the weekends for everyone; Gold members will get it all the time, obviously. Current Xbox Live accounts will carry over to the 360 and become Gold Xbox Live accounts. Both Gold and Silver members will be able to download demos, trailers, and other content through XBL.
This info seems pretty legit, and some insiders have confirmed that this is indeed a real leak. At this rate, you have to wonder if Microsoft will have anything left to reveal at the MTV unveiling on May 12.

I can't believe they made the case so Apple-esque. White is so plain, so square...
I liked black and green better.

I'm pretty excited about this. Gears of War and Perfect Dark look sweet, and if UT2007 comes out for it, I'd kill 1,000 innocent lemurs to get it. I guess Halo 3 will be kinda cool, if it doesn't suck like Halo 2 did.
But, yeah, that MTV thing sorta sucked. Bad. I mean, The Killers? The only way their performace would've been good is if they spontaneously combusted as they were playing. That would rock.
ROFL. Nice.Geek: How many polygons are in the characters?

But anyway, this November is going to be pretty sweet if PD0 and GoW come out as planned..
