There are a couple of possibilities.

1) Recoil from the gun might lift the muzzle.
2) Your ammo might be imperfect, this is more likely if it is homemade, make sure the dart is straight.
3) If you yank the trigger too quickly it will lift the front of the NF and so your shot will go high.

As for seeing if the barrel is straight, may I suggest a visual inspection?

What kind of barrel did your friend put on when modding it?

Reminds me of a LnL. Some guns will shoot high, you can correct this by practicing with it until you can compensate.

Yeah, that happens on nitefinders. I think almost every barrell does that, except for the crayola. I think it has to do with the force that the plunger hits, and this only happens if you have a new/stretched spring or rubber-banded mod on the NF.

I have a crayola/PVC on mine and it goes fine. So does my friend. They must be the magical fruit when it comes to nitefinders. If that's not the problem, what is the length of your barrel? I've got about 4" of PVC extending from the barrel-holder-thingamajig. My friend's has about 2" and I can outshoot him by 10'. If it's just a crayola, put some PVC on there bud. I did that to my SS1 when it shot high, and now it's cured. Well, that's my 2 bits, hope all goes well.

All pistols have an angled grip. You're probably just holding it so the front is pointing up. Practice.

The barrel post is to prevent you from making your own darts. It also enforces their factory made spring restrictor, which (if you see the 3 prong plastic piece) doesn't allow you to allow a high air output unless you have a dart in there, and even then the output is limited. Just rip it off when you open it up.

the new nf's (I Own 2, both modded) have a LARGE amount of recoil with the restrictor torn out, the barrel bored out & a new barrel (3" of 1/2" PVC on mine)

just practice, you will eventually be able to compensate for this
