Argh! I just tried to do rags nf mod/ but used 1/2 pvc instead. Followed instructions exactly exept for part of using pvc. I incerted dart and fired. The dart puffed out and fell to the ground inches from nf. What is wrong???? It cant be the pvc is too wide for dart. Because i used the same stuff to do the single shot mod on my at2k. Argh! Help me!!!

Uhmm, maybe a stupid thought here. But did you remember to take all the airrestrctors out?

yup. all that is in there is the thingy at end of plunger tube that rags said to leave in and the one with the peg but with the peg broken off.

I may be wrong, but I believe you need a piece of Crayola at the beginning of the barrel glued to the air restrictor. This way you put the your Micro/Stefan in the crayola and the PVC acts more like a stabilizer. I wouldn't take my advice until a more experienced Nerfer replied.

A barrel/dart combination that works in a pump gun will very rarely work as well in a spring gun. Read my darts and barrels lecture in the articles section.

What CXWQ said, but more specifically, there isn't enough air from the NF to fire a dart out of a 1/2" PVC barrel. Basically you have increased the volume in the barrel meaning the air coming from the plunger will expand more rapidly, lossing pressure. It also fit miro darts more loosely so air can escape around the edges of the dart. Air pressure guns like the AT2K have a much greater ammount of pressurized air that as it expands to meet the ambient air pressure expands to a volume of air that is several times greater than the plunger tube of a NF, thus a looser barrel like 1/2" PVC will not adversely affect performance.

A CPVC, Brass, PTEG, or Crayola barrel reduces the volume of the barrel or fit the dart more tightly, which allows air pressure to remain higher for a longer time, and prevents air from escaping unused.

The simple fix for you mod is to nest a new barrel inside you pvc one.
1/2" CPVC usually fits right inside of PVC but will need to be forced because it is a very tight fit.
Brass, PTEG, and crayola barrels can be fit in by wrapping them with electrical tape until they can be snugly inserted, and then hot glued in place.

In your situation, crayola/brass is definitely necessary. J_cobbers had a great explanation to why this is. I do this to all of my guns, even if they are air pressure. I just like to make sure the darts stay snug and don't fall out while I'm truckin' along in a war. I use RoseArt barrels because they don't have those ridges on the inside, like crayolas do. It's better for the darts.

This isnt true. I did the same mod with the 1/2" pvc and mine gets a max of around 70' when arched and 50' flat. My only advice would be to make sure everything is tightly sealed. This can be a problem with the nf because of its multiple peices in the plunger system.

But your darts might be too loose. REN has a bit of a rule, air guns loose, springers tight.(Just made that up, but it's the principle.)

Its all good. thanks all. I nested a crayola in the pvc and now it works great. it looks like james bonds ppk with silencer now since its black. I apreciate all the help

Yup. Brass works great. I used it on my nitefinder while looking at the write-up, and now I get the expected 50' to 60' foot ranges. Pick some up if you can.

Are you sure it was PVC and not CPVC? If it was a tan color an not white then it was CPVC.

If it was PVC what type of darts were you using and how long was your barrel?
