I was just wondering if the Maverick would make a good sidearm or not. Is it too big to be a sidearm? Does it jam a lot? Are the ranges really that bad? I've browsed the forums and have found a huge variety of ranges on it, and would like to clarify them once more. Thanks!

It depends on your playing style. If you like to rush and get close it would work but if you need a sidearm with good range a nite finder would be better. Some times the turret doesn't rotate but it doesn't do that a lot. It gets about 20' stock and less than 30' modded.

Mine gets about 40-50 modded... Anyway I find that my Maverick works good for rushing. It has ok ROF, but distance isnt that good. I would say go for it

Honestly the Maverick isn't that bad a gun. It has fairly good ROF, o.k. range and it's downright fun. I mean, who hasn't enjoyed playing a game of Nerf Russian Roulette with a Maverick? But I do have to agree that the NF is one of the best pistols ever.

The closest to a war I've ever done is running up on my friends in their dorms and trying to shoot them, so in that sense not only is the mav effective, but stylish. But, from what I understand a good ranged one shot spring is the only way to go when you're serious, and in that sense it has to be the NF. Besides, they're cheap as hell, so get one of those instead. If you're going for style and are a glory-whore though(like myself), then it has to be either a nerf sword or the mav.

-front-heavy (the gun is a bit heavy)
-mediocre range (it's basically a Scout with six shots)

Nitefinder
+good range (for a pistol)
+versatile (can be modded in all sorts of ways)
-single-shot (shoot, reload, shoot, reload, etc.)

I would recommend the Maverick if ROF (minus reloading time) is more important to you than range.

I would recommend the NF if range is more important to you than ROF.

Yeah, Mav kicks when you have a close-up indoor war. However, if you're looking for a sidearm, you shoudn't get it. It is a bit too big to be one, but that's just for my style; it depends on yours. I do have to agree with the NF as one of the best pistols. It can be modded so many ways, and they are pretty cheap, so if something goes wrong, you can always pick up another. The concept for the Mav is cool, ROF is ok, but you wouldn't really be able to use it outside. There are better guns for outdoor wars.

sorry talio i must dissagree in my oppinion the splitfire is better than an nf. Mine gets 100 ft roughly.

Mavericks are perfect for indoor wars but not very good outdoors (unless you are a crazy rusher). It makes a good sidearm but you won't be able to fit it in your pocket.

Maybe one of ours would only get 50' if it were PVC modded, but according to cx's brass mod 100' is pretty close.

I don't recomend the Maverick. 1 because mine always jammed and I had 2 of em. 2 it was big and bulky and heavy in the front. 3, ummm, because when I had friends over we played and no one wanted the mavericks but wanted the nitefinders! I personally don't recomend them. Did I mention the reloading system is a pain and jam's? and I was also playing indoors. about 27-35 ft. long and wide

Your Mav has actually jammed? How? Mine has never jammed.

If you do flamebo's removable turret mod(only the first part of it where the turret comes out farther) it is really easy to mod.

The way it jammed was I put a dart in this one hole and it kept on just popping up! Not the dart but the chamber was bad. Plus the darts sometime's popped out just enough to jam so I got shot when unjamming it. I personally don't recomend it stock because if you mod it you might fix these flaws.

I haven't seen that mod, but what if you could make a Maverick that had interchangable (sp) clip/turret thingies (Like the powerclip)? That would be schweet.

By the way, what is that thing called? Turret? Clip? Chamber? Drum?

I thought it was cylinder, or drum... I'm going with drum. But if you made it removable it would be a clip, and that would be the sheezy fo reezy. I think I'm doing that, a clip modded mav.

I like the Maverick, but only as an indoor sidearm. Modded it could be you primary inside, but as far as pistols go, I'm staying with my singled AT2K and NF. As far as six-shot, high ROF guns, I like the Hornet and the AT3K. Although it would be good for pistol duels.

If a pistol is shoot 100, it's not a pistol anymore. Simple as that. Same with the 2k.

Yeah, you're right, Talio. But I didn't mod my 2K to shoot a hundred feet, it only gets about fifty to sixty flat. I stuck a Crayola on the airtank and glued 1/2" PVC over that. It was Falcon's mod, by the way if anyone didn't know. I use micros and Stefan micros in it and it's pretty good, but not the most powerful. I'd still call mine a pistol 'til it hits eighty.

i do not recomend the maverick, it is a peice of garbage in my opinion. and that is just MY opinion so dont bash me about it. i already read what everyone had to say about it being good indoors. but all around, it sucks.
